Which Variant Do You Need?
Two versions, two vaporizers — they're not interchangeable. The CRAFTY+ cooling unit (VS0119) fits only the CRAFTY+ and the original CRAFTY. The MIGHTY cooling unit (VS0109) fits only the MIGHTY. Check the name printed on your device if you're not sure. Order the wrong one and it simply won't click into place.

Why Your Cooling Unit Needs Replacing
Here's the honest truth: the cooling unit is the hardest-working part of your CRAFTY+ or MIGHTY. Every single draw passes through it. Resin builds up inside the fins, the plastic discolours, and the cap ring seal starts to lose its grip. Regular cleaning with isopropyl alcohol extends the life significantly, but even a well-maintained cooling unit has a shelf life of roughly 6 to 12 months of daily use before airflow resistance creeps up noticeably.
The thing most people don't realise is how much flavour they're losing to a gunked-up cooling unit. You get used to it gradually — the draw gets a bit tighter, the taste gets a bit flatter — and then you swap in a fresh one and it's like using the vaporizer for the first time again. That first pull through a brand-new cooling unit is genuinely satisfying. The airflow opens right up, you taste terpenes you'd forgotten were there, and the vapour temperature drops back to where Storz & Bickel intended it.
One limitation worth mentioning: these cooling units are plastic, not metal. They're durable for what they are, but if you're heavy-handed with the cap ring or force the mouthpiece at an angle, the hinge tab can snap. Treat it gently when you're cleaning or reassembling and it'll last. We'd pick up two at a time if you vape daily — rotate them so one's always soaking clean while the other's in use.
How to Replace the Storz & Bickel Cooling Unit
- Let your vaporizer cool down completely. The cooling unit retains heat after a session — give it at least 5 minutes.
- Twist the locking ring on your current cooling unit anticlockwise and lift the entire assembly off the top of the device.
- If you want to salvage any residue from the old unit, soak it in isopropyl alcohol (90%+) for 30 minutes. The reclaim that dissolves out is surprisingly potent — some users evaporate the alcohol and keep it.
- Take your new Storz & Bickel cooling unit out of the packaging. Check the cap ring clicks open and shut smoothly.
- Place the new cooling unit onto the heating chamber of your CRAFTY+ or MIGHTY. It should seat flush with no gaps.
- Twist the locking ring clockwise until it clicks into place. You'll feel a firm stop — don't force it past that point.
- Run one empty heating cycle (turn the vaporizer on without loading the chamber) to burn off any manufacturing residue. This takes about 60 seconds at max temperature.
- Load your chamber and enjoy. The difference in draw resistance and flavour clarity is immediate.
