CRAFTY+ Vaporiser by Storz & Bickel
The CRAFTY+ is a pocket-sized hybrid-heating vaporiser from Storz & Bickel — the German outfit behind the Volcano — that pairs smartphone app control with a cooling system engineered to deliver smooth, flavourful vapour from dry herbs. It's the smallest device in the S&B range, weighing in at just 135 g, and it fits in one hand like it was moulded for it. If you want desktop-grade vapour quality in something you can genuinely carry in a jacket pocket, this is where you start.
What's in the Box
Storz & Bickel don't skimp on the unboxing. The CRAFTY+ arrives ready to use with everything you need for your first session and basic maintenance.
- CRAFTY+ vaporiser unit
- USB-C charging cable
- Filling aid and tamping tool
- Set of spare O-rings
- Cleaning brush
- 3 spare screens
- Instructions manual
No dosing capsules in the box, though — and honestly, you'll want those. More on that below.
Why the CRAFTY+ Stands Out from Other Portable Vaporisers
We've sold portable vaporisers since before most of them were any good. The CRAFTY+ is one of the few that genuinely delivers on its promises, and here's why it keeps outselling devices that cost less and devices that cost more.
Hybrid heating is the headline feature. Most portables use either conduction (direct contact with a hot surface) or convection (hot air passing through the herb). The CRAFTY+ uses both simultaneously. The chamber walls heat your material directly while hot air is drawn through it as you inhale. The result: even extraction, no hot spots, and noticeably thicker vapour than pure-convection portables manage. You taste the terpene profile of your herb rather than a vaguely warm, papery nothing.
The cooling unit is the part most competitors can't replicate. Vapour travels through a patented heat exchanger with a surprisingly large surface area — far bigger than you'd expect from a device this size. By the time it reaches the flip-out mouthpiece, the vapour is cool enough that you barely feel the heat. It's silky. That's not marketing fluff — pick one up, take a draw, and you'll notice the temperature difference compared to almost any other portable in this price bracket.
Smartphone integration via the Storz & Bickel web app connects over Bluetooth and lets you set the temperature to the exact degree between 40 °C and 210 °C. On the unit itself, you get a single button that toggles between a default temperature of 180 °C and a boost of 195 °C. That's enough for most sessions, but the app opens up real precision — particularly useful if you're targeting specific compounds at specific temperature thresholds.
CRAFTY+ vs. Mighty+ — Which Storz & Bickel Portable Should You Pick?
This is the question we get asked most. Both are Storz & Bickel, both use the same hybrid heating, both produce outstanding vapour. The differences come down to size, battery, and control.
| Feature | CRAFTY+ | Mighty+ |
|---|---|---|
| Weight | 135 g | 247 g |
| Dimensions | 110 x 57 x 33 mm | 140 x 80 x 33 mm |
| Battery life | ~4–6 sessions per charge | ~8–10 sessions per charge |
| Heat-up time | ~60 seconds | ~60 seconds |
| Temperature control | 1 button + app | On-device LED display + app |
| Charging | USB-C | USB-C (supercharger) |
| Heating system | Hybrid (conduction + convection) | Hybrid (conduction + convection) |
| Best for | Portability, travel, discreet use | Longer sessions, home + portable |
Here's our honest take: if you mainly vape at home and occasionally take it out, the Mighty+ is the better all-rounder — bigger battery, on-device display, same vapour quality. But if you're buying a portable vaporiser specifically because you want something portable, the CRAFTY+ wins. It's nearly half the weight, genuinely pocketable, and the vapour quality is identical. The trade-off is battery life — 4 to 6 sessions versus 8 to 10. If you're out all day, you'll need to top up via USB-C. That's the one real limitation, and it's worth knowing before you buy.

Complete your setup: Grab a set of Dosing Capsules (40-pack) — they keep the chamber spotless, speed up loading, and let you pre-pack sessions for a full day out. The Glass Mouthpiece for CRAFTY+/Mighty+ is also worth a look if you prefer a cooler, more refined draw. And if you want to run the CRAFTY+ through a water piece, the Glass WPA adapter for CRAFTY+/Mighty+ makes that ridiculously easy.
Why the CRAFTY+ Is Worth the Investment
Cheap portables exist. We sell some of them, and they're fine for what they are. The plastic taste, the uneven heating, the battery that dies mid-session — it adds up. The CRAFTY+ costs more upfront, but it's the kind of device you stop shopping after.
The build quality is tangible. Pick it up and you feel the density — 135 g of precisely engineered German manufacturing. The housing is textured for grip, the mouthpiece clicks into place with a satisfying snap, and the single button has a tactile response that tells you exactly when you've engaged it. After hundreds of sessions, the mechanism still feels tight. Storz & Bickel back it with a 2-year warranty, which tells you something about how confident they are in the engineering.
The real payoff, though, is efficiency. The hybrid heating system extracts more from less material. Where a cheaper conduction vape might leave you with half-green herb and uneven browning, the CRAFTY+ produces an evenly toasted chamber every time. You use less herb per session, and you actually taste what you're vaping — not hot plastic, not combustion, just clean flavour. Over time, the efficiency savings alone offset a significant chunk of the price difference.
How to Use the CRAFTY+ Vaporiser
- Charge fully before first use. Connect the USB-C cable and wait for the LED to indicate a full charge. First charge takes roughly 2 hours.
- Grind your herb to a medium consistency. Not powder-fine, not chunky — think coarse sea salt. A consistent grind gives the hybrid heating system the best airflow.
- Remove the cooling unit by twisting it counterclockwise and lifting it off the chamber.
- Fill the chamber using the included filling aid. Tamp lightly with the tool — firm enough to pack it evenly, loose enough that air can still pass through. The chamber holds approximately 0.15 g.
- Replace the cooling unit and twist clockwise until it clicks.
- Press the power button once. The LED will pulse as the unit heats to the default 180 °C. When it reaches temperature (roughly 60 seconds), the LED turns green.
- Flip open the mouthpiece and draw slowly and steadily. Long, gentle draws work better than short, sharp puffs — the convection element needs airflow to do its job.
- Double-click the button to activate the boost temperature of 195 °C for thicker clouds towards the end of a session.
- When finished, press and hold the button to switch off. The unit auto-shuts after 1 minute of inactivity as a safety measure.
- Empty the chamber while still warm — the spent herb taps out cleanly. Brush with the included tool to keep the screen clear.
Just drop a pre-loaded capsule into the chamber, click the cooling unit back on, and go. It's faster, cleaner, and the capsules fit in a tiny keyring case for on-the-go reloading. We'd pick capsules over loose loading every single time for the CRAFTY+ — the small chamber benefits hugely from the precision.
