Psilocybe cubensis spore syringes and liquid culture vials are the starting point for any home mushroom grow — sterile spore solutions (or pre-germinated mycelium) in a syringe, ready to inject into your substrate. We carry 11 Mondo products: 10 cubensis strains plus one liquid culture vial in three sizes. Ships from Amsterdam, established 1999. Buy a strain that matches your experience level and you're away.

Every syringe here is 20ml of sterile spore solution, Mondo-produced in the Netherlands, with a needle and alcohol swab included. What changes is the strain — and whether you want raw spores or a liquid culture that skips the first germination step. The table below sorts the range by experience level so you can pick without reading ten PDPs.
| Strain | Format | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Golden Teacher | Spore syringe | First-time buyers — the default starter |
| B+ | Spore syringe | Beginners who want big, chunky fruits |
| Cambodia | Spore syringe | Beginners who want the fastest coloniser |
| Ecuador | Spore syringe | Beginners — mountain strain, dark prints |
| Treasure Coast | Spore syringe | Intermediate — chance of near-albino flushes |
| Hawaii (PESH) | Spore syringe | Intermediate — heavy flushes on rye grain |
| PES Amazonian | Spore syringe | Intermediate — fast colonisation, above-average potency |
| Moby Dick | Spore syringe | Experienced — Golden Teacher × A+ cross |
| A+ (Albino) | Spore syringe | Experienced — ghostly white fruits, 8–10 day colonisation |
| McKennaii | Spore syringe | Experienced — one of the more potent cubensis strains |
| Liquid Culture Vial | LC (5/10/25ml) | Anyone wanting to halve colonisation time |
This guide is written for adults aged 18 and over. 18+ only
Every syringe is filled under sterile conditions with spores suspended in distilled water — shelf-stable for around two years refrigerated. Each 20ml syringe holds enough solution to inoculate roughly 1–2 substrates, depending on how generously you dose (1–2ml per jar is standard).
The strain you pick matters less than people think. All 10 cubensis strains here produce Psilocybe cubensis fruits — the differences are colonisation speed, yield shape, visual character, and a modest spread in potency. If you're inoculating your first grain jar, grab Golden Teacher or Cambodia and don't overthink it. If you're on your fifth grow and want something more interesting, McKennaii or A+ are where the range gets fun.
A spore syringe contains spores in sterile water — dormant cells that need to germinate after you inoculate. A liquid culture vial contains live mycelium already growing in a nutrient broth — you skip germination entirely. The practical effect: liquid culture colonises roughly twice as fast as spores, because the lag phase is already done.
The workflow most growers use: buy a spore syringe of your chosen strain, inject 1ml into a Mondo Liquid Culture Vial, wait for the mycelium to take hold, then use the vial to inoculate multiple grain jars. That's how you turn one 20ml syringe into 10+ jars of colonised grain instead of 1–2.
First grow? Order a Golden Teacher or Cambodia syringe. Golden Teacher is the most-sold cubensis strain in the world for a reason — reliable, forgiving, fruits generously. Cambodia is marginally faster and equally forgiving. Either will work at 24–28°C on brown rice flour cakes or rye grain.
Second or third grow? Branch out. Treasure Coast for the albino-ish flushes, Hawaii for density, Ecuador if you want something with character and darker prints. PES Amazonian colonises fast and gives dense fruit bodies — a favourite among growers who've moved past the beginner strains.
Experienced? McKennaii and A+ are where things get interesting. McKennaii has a strong potency reputation; A+ is albino and visually unmistakable. Moby Dick — the Golden Teacher × A+ cross — is the crowd-pleaser of the experienced tier: fast, high-yielding, genetically stable.
Want to maximise yield from one syringe? Buy a spore syringe plus a liquid culture vial. Inject 1ml of spores into the vial, let the mycelium grow out, then inoculate as many grain jars as you like from the LC. When in doubt, start with Golden Teacher and a 10ml LC vial — that's the combo we'd get for a first grow ourselves.
A spore syringe is used to inoculate a sterile substrate — usually rye grain or brown rice flour — with Psilocybe cubensis spores. You inject 1–2ml per jar, then wait 10–18 days for the mycelium to colonise before fruiting. The needle and alcohol swab included with each Mondo syringe are for keeping the injection sterile.
Golden Teacher is the standard beginner pick — it's the most-sold Psilocybe cubensis strain globally, colonises reliably at 24–28°C, and forgives small mistakes in sterility or humidity. Cambodia is the runner-up if you want the fastest coloniser. Both are in the Mondo range at the same spec (20ml syringe, needle, swab).
Spore syringes give you genetic variation and longer shelf life (around 2 years refrigerated). Liquid culture vials colonise roughly twice as fast because the mycelium is already alive. Most growers buy both — inject 1ml of spores into an LC vial, then inoculate multiple jars from the vial. Best of both worlds.
Stored refrigerated at 2–8°C, a Mondo spore syringe stays viable for around 24 months. Freezing kills spores — don't put them in the freezer. A liquid culture vial has a shorter shelf life, typically 3–6 months refrigerated, because the mycelium is metabolically active.
At the standard 1–2ml per jar, one 20ml syringe inoculates 10–20 jars in theory, but sterility practice usually brings that down to 1–2 substrates per syringe for home growers. If you want to stretch the genetics further, inject 1ml into a Mondo Liquid Culture Vial and inoculate from the vial instead.
Pair a spore syringe with a Mondo Liquid Culture Vial to cut colonisation time in half, or grab a ready-to-fruit Mondo grow kit if you'd rather skip inoculation entirely.
