Shisha Pipes and Accessories — Buying Guide
A shisha is a water pipe that cools and filters flavoured tobacco smoke through a glass or metal chamber before you draw it through a hose. Good sessions need four things working together: a solid pipe, the right bowl, clean-burning coals, and a hose that doesn't leak. Get any one of those wrong and the whole thing falls apart — we've watched plenty of first-timers blame the tobacco when the real problem was a cracked grommet or cheap coals that tasted like petrol.
Azarius has been selling smoking kit since 1999, and shisha has been on the shelf long enough that we've filtered out the rubbish. What's left is a tight range of glass pipes in three sizes, two charcoal formats, ceramic and clay bowls, and every accessory you'd actually reach for mid-session.
Pick Your Pipe by Size
Height is the first decision — it changes everything about how you'll use the thing.
| Pipe | Height | Hoses | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deroua Glass Shisha | 34 cm | 1 | Solo smokers, small flats, travel — fits in a backpack |
| Sidi Glass Shisha | 53 cm | 1 | Two to three people, living-room setup, daily driver |
| Selouane Glass Shisha | 55 cm | 2 | Twin-hose sessions, passing between two smokers at once |
| Jorf Glass Shisha | 57 cm | 1 | Group sessions, pearlescent beaker base, dense clouds |
If you're buying your first shisha, get the Sidi or the Jorf. The Deroua is brilliant but it's a second pipe, not a first one — you'll want the extra volume of a 53–57cm chamber when friends come round.

How to Choose Your Shisha Setup
New to shisha? Buy a complete pipe (Sidi, Selouane, or Jorf — they all ship with bowl, hose, tray, and tongs), a box of Coco Charcoal Casablanca, a pack of pre-cut foil, and the Compact Charcoal Lighter. That's it. Don't bother with fancy bowls or heat management on day one — get the basics right first, and add kit as you figure out what you actually want to fix.
Intermediate smokers — if your bowls keep burning harsh, order an Exclusive Clay Bowl and the Dragon Set. Clay holds heat more gently than ceramic, and the Dragon Set stops coals scorching the top layer of tobacco. If your sessions feel warm and harsh, the Ice Tip Bazooka 2.0 is the fastest upgrade you can make — shop it in whatever colour matches your hose.
Experienced smokers know the real upgrade isn't another pipe — it's maintenance. The Flexible Brush and Shisha Cleaning Powder do more for flavour than a new bowl ever will. A hose that's been soaked in cleaning powder every few weeks tastes like a new hose. Neglect it and every session tastes slightly of the last one.
Coals: Coconut vs Quick-Light
Two charcoal types, two different jobs. Coco Charcoal Casablanca cubes are natural coconut husk — clean-burning, low ash, 45–60 minutes per cube, and they don't taint the tobacco. Downside: they need a proper burner or gas hob to light, about 8–10 minutes. Champ Al Malik Charcoal Rolls light in under a minute with a single flame, which is why casual smokers and incense users buy them by the roll. Slight chemical taste on the first draw is the trade-off.
If you smoke at home, buy the coconut. If you smoke outdoors, travel, or burn loose incense (myrrh, sandalwood, palo santo), get the rolls. Most of our regulars keep both.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to start smoking shisha?
A pipe (bowl, hose, and tray included with all our Champ Al Malik glass shishas), charcoal, aluminium foil or a heat management device, a lighter or burner, and shisha tobacco. The Sidi 53cm or Jorf 57cm plus a box of Coco Charcoal Casablanca and pre-cut foil is the standard starter kit.
How long does a shisha session last?
A single bowl with coconut coals runs 45–90 minutes depending on bowl size, pack density, and heat management. A Dragon Set or fresh coal rotations can push a session past two hours. Quick-light coals burn faster — expect 20–40 minutes per coal.
Ceramic or clay shisha bowl — which is better?
Ceramic (Tinjab, Taslint) heats faster and is more forgiving for beginners. Natural clay (Exclusive Clay Bowl) heats gradually, retains heat longer, and pulls cleaner flavour — experienced smokers prefer it. If you're new, start ceramic and upgrade to clay once you've got your heat management sorted.
How do I clean a shisha pipe?
Rinse the glass chamber and stem with hot water after every session. Once a fortnight, soak all removable parts in El-Badia Shisha Cleaning Powder (two teaspoons per litre, 30-minute soak) and scrub the hose interior with the Flexible Brush. Skipping hose cleaning is the number-one reason sessions taste stale.
Are twin-hose shishas better than single-hose?
Twin-hose pipes like the Selouane let two people draw simultaneously, but you need to plug the unused hose port when smoking solo or the pipe won't pull properly. For most people a single-hose pipe with the Hose Marrakech XL (220cm) is more practical for passing around a group.
