EHLE Big Brother Glass Bong

The EHLE Big Brother glass bong is a 35cm water pipe built around one simple idea: give smoke the space it needs to cool down properly. Where most modern bongs chase slim profiles and compact footprints, EHLE went the other direction — a wide, generous water chamber that filters and cools every hit before it reaches your lungs. Made from 5mm borosilicate glass with a sturdy base, this is the kind of piece you set up on a table and leave there, because it looks good enough to earn its spot.

Why the EHLE Big Brother Glass Bong Stands Out

Most bongs in this size range try to be as sleek as possible. The Big Brother takes the opposite approach and it works. That oversized water chamber isn't just for show — more water volume means more surface area for smoke to pass through, which means noticeably cooler, smoother draws. You feel the difference on the first pull. The glass itself has a satisfying weight to it; 5mm-thick borosilicate doesn't rattle when you set it down and it won't crack if you knock the table. Pick it up and you'll notice it immediately — this isn't thin, fragile glass pretending to be something it's not.

The neck features "EHLE" printed in bold, psychedelic lettering that catches the light nicely. It's a small touch, but it gives the piece some personality without going overboard. EHLE has been making glass in Germany for years, and they've got a reputation for producing solid, no-nonsense water pipes that just work. No gimmicks, no unnecessary percolator stacks that clog after a week — just a well-made bong with a big chamber and clean airflow.

The one honest limitation: that wide base means it takes up a bit more shelf space than a slim beaker bong. If your setup area is tight, measure first. But if you've got the room, the Big Brother earns its place.

Complete your setup with a decent grinder — evenly ground herb packs better in the bowl and burns more consistently. A set of pipe cleaners or a bottle brush sized for bong necks will keep the Big Brother hitting clean for months. If you want to swap the standard bowl for something with a screen built in, any 14.5mm bowl fits the EHLE's ground joint.

Why a Wide-Chamber Bong Makes a Difference

It's straightforward physics — more water means more cooling surface, and cooler smoke is less harsh on your throat. You can take bigger draws without coughing, which is the entire point of using a water pipe in the first place.

The 5mm glass thickness is the sweet spot for home use. Thinner glass (3mm or under) feels fragile and you end up babying it. Thicker glass (7mm+) adds weight and cost without much practical benefit unless you're genuinely clumsy. At 5mm, the Big Brother is sturdy enough to survive normal handling but not so heavy that passing it around becomes a workout. We've seen 5mm EHLE pieces survive years of regular use — the glass holds up.

The carb hole is worth mentioning because not every bong has one. It gives you direct control over airflow: cover it while you draw, release it to clear the chamber. If you're used to pull-stem bongs, the carb hole takes about two sessions to get used to. After that, most people prefer it — it's faster and you don't risk dropping a wet downpipe on the carpet.

How to Use the EHLE Big Brother Glass Bong

  1. Fill the water chamber through the mouthpiece opening. Add enough water so the bottom of the downpipe sits about 2-3cm below the surface. Too much water and you'll get splashback; too little and you lose the cooling effect.
  2. Insert the downpipe into the joint. The 14.5mm ground glass connection creates an airtight seal without any rubber grommets — just glass on glass.
  3. Pack the bowl loosely with ground herb. Don't tamp it down tight or you'll restrict airflow. A light, even pack draws best.
  4. Place your finger or thumb over the carb hole on the side of the bong.
  5. Light the bowl while drawing slowly and steadily through the mouthpiece. You'll see the chamber fill with filtered smoke.
  6. When you're ready to inhale, release the carb hole. The rush of fresh air clears the chamber in one go.
  7. After your session, pour out the water and give the bong a quick rinse. Change the water every session — stale bong water tastes awful and defeats the purpose of filtration.
