- Remove the lighter from its packaging. The colour is random, so whatever arrives is yours — think of it as a lucky dip.
- If the lighter doesn't ignite immediately, it may need a top-up. Turn it upside down, locate the refill valve on the base, and insert the nozzle of a standard butane canister. Press firmly for 3–5 seconds until the reservoir feels full.
- Wait 30 seconds after refilling. This lets the butane settle and reach room temperature, which prevents sputtering on the first ignition.
- Hold the lighter upright and press the ignition button. A focused blue jet flame should appear at roughly 1,300 °C. If the flame is too tall or too short, look for the flame adjustment dial (usually a small wheel near the base) and tweak it to your preference.
- Light your material at a slight distance — roughly 2 cm from the tip of the flame to the surface. This avoids scorching and gives you an even, controlled light.

How to Refill a Pocket Torch Lighter Properly
Bleeding the fuel tank before refilling eliminates about 90% of sputtering and weak-flame issues. The whole process takes under two minutes and keeps your pocket torch lighter performing like new.
Before refilling, bleed the tank. Press the refill valve with a small screwdriver or pen tip until you hear the hiss stop completely. This purges old air and residual gas.
