On Balance MAR-100 Scale: Waterproof Pocket Precision

The On Balance MAR-100 scale is a waterproof digital pocket scale that measures to 0.01g accuracy across a 100g capacity — built for weighing concentrates, extracts, and dried herbs without fuss or guesswork. IP-65 rated against water and dust, it's one of the few mini scales you can actually rinse under a tap after use. If you've ever tried scraping sticky resin off a cheap scale with a credit card, you already know why that matters. When you buy the On Balance MAR-100 scale, you're getting a sealed unit that stays accurate long after ordinary pocket scales have drifted into uselessness.

Complete your setup: Pair the On Balance MAR-100 scale with calibration weights to keep readings accurate over time — even a 0.01g drift matters when you're working with concentrates. A small weighing tray or silicone mat also helps keep sticky material off the platform between rinses. Order a set of calibration weights alongside the scale and you'll have everything you need from day one. The MYCO Silicone Weighing Mat is a popular companion piece.

Why the On Balance MAR-100 Scale Solves the Biggest Pocket Scale Problem

Residue buildup is the leading cause of accuracy drift in pocket scales, and the On Balance MAR-100 scale eliminates it with a fully sealed IP-65 housing you can rinse under running water. Most pocket scales die the same way: residue builds up in the crevices around the weighing platform, the buttons start sticking, and accuracy drifts. You can't clean them properly because water kills the electronics. So you end up wiping them down with a damp cloth, which never really gets the job done, and eventually the scale reads 0.03g when the platform is empty.

The On Balance MAR-100 scale sidesteps that entire problem. IP-65 means the housing is sealed against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets. In plain terms: you can run it under the tap. Sticky concentrate residue, herbal dust, resin — rinse it off, dry the scale, and you're back to accurate readings. That's not a luxury feature; it's what keeps a 0.01g scale actually reading 0.01g six months after you bought it. According to the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA), accurate dosing equipment is a core component of harm reduction practice — and a scale that maintains its calibration is foundational to that.

At 124 x 68 x 22mm, it's genuinely pocket-sized — roughly the footprint of a bank card, just thicker. The included protective sleeve means you can toss it in a bag without worrying about the platform getting scratched or the buttons getting pressed. The one honest limitation: the LED screen isn't backlit, so in dim conditions you'll need a light source nearby. Not a dealbreaker, but worth knowing if you tend to weigh things in low light.

How to Use the On Balance MAR-100 Scale

The On Balance MAR-100 scale is ready to weigh within seconds of unboxing — four buttons, no manual needed. Here's the process from first power-on to your first accurate reading.

  1. Remove the MAR-100 from its protective sleeve and place it on a flat, stable surface. Uneven surfaces throw off readings — a kitchen counter or desk works well, a sofa cushion does not.
  2. Press the power button. The LED display will light up and show 0.00g once the scale has stabilised. If it doesn't read zero, press the tare button before placing anything on the platform.
  3. Select your preferred weighing unit by pressing the mode button. The MAR-100 cycles through 6 units: grams (g), ounces (oz), troy ounces (ozt), pennyweights (dwt), carats (ct), and grains (gn). For most herb and extract weighing, grams is what you want.
  4. If you're using a weighing tray or container, place it on the platform now and press tare. The display resets to 0.00g, so only the contents will be measured.
  5. Place your material on the platform (or in the tared container). Wait 2-3 seconds for the reading to stabilise — the display will stop flickering once the weight is locked.
  6. After weighing, remove your material. If there's residue on the platform — especially from sticky concentrates or resin — rinse the scale under a gentle stream of tap water. Dry it thoroughly with a cloth before storing it back in the protective sleeve.
