White Widow Cannabis Seeds by Greenhouse Seeds

White Widow is a feminised cannabis seed variety from Greenhouse Seeds that produces heavily resinous, potent plants with yields reaching up to 800g/m² indoors. A cross between Brazilian sativa and South Indian indica genetics, this strain took first place at the High Times Cannabis Cup in 1995 and has remained a benchmark variety ever since. If you've grown cannabis before and want a proven heavy yielder with serious bag appeal, these seeds deliver.

Choose Your Pack Size

White Widow feminised seeds from Greenhouse Seeds come in three pack sizes. If you're running a single tent or trying the strain for the first time, the 3-pack gives you enough to select your best performer. The 5-pack suits a standard ScrOG setup where you want a uniform canopy from a single variety. Go for the 10-pack if you're filling a larger room or want to keep seeds in reserve for future runs — stored properly in a cool, dark place, cannabis seeds stay viable for years.

Why White Widow Feminised Seeds Belong in Your Grow Room

We've been selling cannabis seeds since 1999, and White Widow still comes up in conversation more than almost any other strain. There's a reason for that — it's not hype left over from the '90s. The genetics genuinely perform. Brazilian sativa parentage gives the plant stretch and vigour, while the South Indian indica side loads the buds with resin so thick they look frost-bitten. Greenhouse Seeds stabilised this cross decades ago and it remains one of their flagship offerings.

The yield numbers are what set White Widow apart from other indica-dominant varieties. Indoors under optimised conditions, you're looking at 700–800g/m². Outdoors, individual plants can push up to 900 grams each, with harvest time falling around the end of September in the Northern Hemisphere. Those aren't marketing numbers — Greenhouse Seeds has been refining this line since their 1995 Cannabis Cup win, and the genetics are dialled in.

One honest note: the flowering period runs longer than you might expect for a strain with strong indica influence. Budget 8–10 weeks from the flip to 12/12 before she's fully mature. That's a week or two longer than faster indica-dominant varieties. But when you see the resin coverage and weigh the dried harvest, the wait makes sense. The buds come out absolutely caked — the "White" in White Widow refers to the trichome blanket, not the genetics. At 18% THC, the effect hits quickly and lasts well.

Running White Widow in a ScrOG setup? You'll want a proper grow tent with good light distribution — the Diamond Box series pairs well with high-yielding strains like this one. How White Widow Actually Grows — From Our Shelves to Your Tent

White Widow is not a fussy plant. She responds well to topping and training, which makes her a natural fit for ScrOG nets where you want an even canopy soaking up every photon. The indica structure keeps internodal spacing tight, so you get dense bud sites rather than airy popcorn.

The standout sensory feature is the resin. By week 6 of flowering, the buds look like they've been rolled in sugar. Trichome coverage extends onto the smaller fan leaves surrounding the colas — it's genuinely impressive even if you've grown resinous strains before. If you're into making hash or extracts, White Widow is one of the best varieties for resin yield per square metre. The smell during late flowering is pungent and earthy with a sharp, almost chemical edge — make sure your carbon filter is up to the job.

The one thing to watch: because the flowering period stretches to 8–10 weeks, newer growers sometimes harvest too early. The trichomes can look milky by week 7, but giving her the full run to week 9 or 10 is where the extra weight and potency develop. Use a jeweller's loupe or USB microscope to check trichome colour — you want mostly cloudy with some amber before you chop. Patience pays off in grams per square metre with this strain.

How to Grow White Widow Feminised Seeds

  1. Germinate your White Widow seeds using the paper towel method or directly in a starter plug. Keep the temperature around 22–25°C and maintain moisture without waterlogging. Taproots typically emerge within 24–72 hours.
  2. Transplant seedlings into their final containers once they've developed their first set of true leaves. White Widow performs particularly well in hydroponic systems, but soil and coco coir work fine too. A 10–15 litre pot is sufficient for indoor grows.
  3. Vegetate under 18/6 light for 3–5 weeks depending on your target canopy size. Top the plant once above the 4th or 5th node to encourage lateral branching — this sets you up for an effective ScrOG if you're using a net.
  4. Flip to 12/12 lighting to trigger flowering. White Widow will stretch moderately during the first two weeks of flower. Tuck branches under your ScrOG net to maintain an even canopy.
  5. Feed with a bloom-phase nutrient schedule from week 2 of flowering onwards. White Widow is a heavy feeder during peak flower — watch for signs of deficiency (yellowing lower leaves) and adjust EC accordingly.
  6. Monitor trichome development from week 7 onwards using magnification. Harvest when trichomes are mostly cloudy with 10–20% amber for the full-bodied effect White Widow is known for. Expect the full cycle to take 8–10 weeks from the flip.
  7. Dry in a dark, well-ventilated space at 18–21°C and 55–60% humidity for 7–14 days. Cure in sealed glass jars for at least 2 weeks, burping daily for the first few days. Proper curing brings out the full terpene profile and smooths the smoke.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does White Widow take to flower indoors?

White Widow takes 8–10 weeks to fully mature indoors from the switch to 12/12 lighting. That's slightly longer than many indica-dominant strains, but the yield of 700–800g/m² more than compensates for the extra week or two.

What yield can I expect from White Widow seeds?

Indoors, White Widow produces 700–800g/m² under optimised conditions. Outdoors, individual plants can yield up to 900 grams each when harvested at the end of September. Hydroponic setups and ScrOG training tend to push yields toward the higher end.

Is White Widow suitable for ScrOG growing?

Yes — Greenhouse Seeds specifically recommends White Widow for ScrOG setups. The indica-dominant structure responds well to topping and training, producing a flat, even canopy with multiple bud sites. She also performs particularly well in hydroponic systems.

What is the THC percentage of White Widow?

White Widow from Greenhouse Seeds produces buds with 18% THC. The effect hits quickly and lasts a good while. The heavy trichome coverage makes this strain a strong candidate for hash and extract production as well.

Are White Widow seeds feminised?

Yes, these Greenhouse Seeds White Widow seeds are feminised. Every seed produces a female plant, so you don't need to identify and remove males during early flowering. Available in packs of 3, 5, or 10 seeds.

Can I grow White Widow outdoors?

Absolutely. Outdoor White Widow plants are typically ready for harvest at the end of September in the Northern Hemisphere. Each plant can yield up to 900 grams. She needs a reasonably warm, sunny climate to reach full potential outdoors.

Why does White Widow look so frosty?

The "White" in White Widow refers to the extreme trichome production inherited from the South Indian indica parent. By late flowering, the buds and surrounding leaves are covered in a dense layer of resin glands — it genuinely looks like the plant has been hit by a blizzard.
