Expert Gorilla Cannabis Seeds by Expert Seeds

Expert Gorilla is a sativa-dominant feminised cannabis seed that delivers 24% THC and extraordinary resin production, bred from the legendary Gorilla Glue #4 lineage. Expert Seeds took the genetics of Chem's Sister, Sour Dubb, and Chocolate Diesel and tightened them into a 75/25 sativa-indica hybrid that flowers in just 58–63 days indoors. If you're after a heavy-hitting grow with hash-making potential, this is the seed to start with.

24% THC 75% Sativa / 25% Indica 58–63 Day Flowering Up to 700g/plant Outdoors 18+ only

Pack Sizes

Expert Gorilla seeds come in two pack options: 3 seeds for a focused run or test grow, and 5 seeds if you want room to select the strongest phenotypes. We'd go with the 5-pack — with a strain that can show hermaphroditic traits, having a couple of extras gives you a safety net during flowering.

Complete your grow setup: If you're running Expert Gorilla indoors, pair it with a proper grow tent and carbon filter — at 24% THC, this strain reeks during flowering. A set of fabric pots and quality soil or coco will help manage her sativa stretch. For hash-making after harvest, a set of bubble bags or a pollen press will put that ridiculous resin production to good use.

Why Expert Gorilla Seeds Deserve a Spot in Your Garden

Here's the thing about Gorilla Glue #4 genetics: the original was an accident. Literally. An unplanned pollination between Chem's Sister, Sour Dubb, and Chocolate Diesel produced a strain so absurdly potent and resinous that it became a global phenomenon almost overnight. Expert Seeds took that genetic blueprint and refined it into Expert Gorilla — a feminised version that keeps the 24% THC sledgehammer and the resin output that made GG#4 famous for hash production.

At 75% sativa, Expert Gorilla leans toward the cerebral side. The effect hits with a deeply relaxing body sensation layered under a mentally invigorating head. One or two tokes is genuinely enough — this isn't a strain where you absent-mindedly smoke a whole joint and carry on with your evening. Experienced smokers will appreciate that efficiency. The flavour profile blends diesel fuel and dark chocolate (straight from the Chem Sis and Chocolate Diesel parents) with fresh pine forest notes on the exhale. It's complex, pungent, and sticks to the roof of your mouth.

The honest limitation? Expert Gorilla can throw hermaphroditic traits during flowering. The original GG#4 was notorious for this, and it's carried through to this variant. That means you need to inspect your plants regularly once flowers start forming — catching a few nanners early saves your whole crop from seeding. It's not a deal-breaker, but it's something to watch. If you've never dealt with hermaphrodites before, read up on what to look for before you flip to 12/12.

Growing Expert Gorilla Seeds: What to Expect

Expert Gorilla performs well both indoors and outdoors, though outdoor growers get the better deal on yield. Indoors, expect around 400g/m² in a well-managed setup with a 58–63 day flowering window — that's reasonably quick for a sativa-dominant strain. Outdoors in a warm climate, she can push up to 700g per plant with a late September harvest.

The sativa genetics mean she'll stretch during the first two weeks of flower. Indoor growers should account for this — if you're working in a tent with limited headroom, either flip early or use training techniques like LST or a SCROG net to keep the canopy even. The stretch is manageable, but ignore it and you'll have colas burning against your light.

Resin production is where Expert Gorilla really earns her name. The buds come out absolutely caked in trichomes — sticky enough to gum up your scissors within minutes of trimming. This makes her one of the best varieties for hash, dry sift, or rosin pressing. If you've invested in extraction equipment, this strain will give it a proper workout.

One practical tip from years of seeing growers work with GG#4 genetics: keep your humidity below 50% during late flowering. That dense resin layer traps moisture against the bud surface, and combined with the thick sativa colas, you're looking at a mould risk if airflow isn't dialled in. A decent oscillating fan and a dehumidifier are cheap insurance.

Expert Gorilla Flavour and Aroma Profile

Expert Gorilla's terpene profile is a direct inheritance from her three parent strains, and you can taste each one. The dominant note is diesel — sharp, acrid, unmistakable. Underneath that sits a rich chocolate undertone from the Chocolate Diesel genetics, which rounds out the harshness and gives the smoke a surprising sweetness. On the exhale, fresh pine cuts through, leaving a woody, almost mentholated finish.

The aroma during flowering is intense. We're talking fill-the-room-through-a-sealed-tent levels of pungent. If discretion matters to you, a carbon filter isn't optional with this strain — it's the bare minimum. Curing for at least two weeks in glass jars brings out the chocolate and pine notes more clearly and mellows the diesel edge into something genuinely enjoyable rather than just overwhelming.

Expert Gorilla vs Other Gorilla Glue Strains

The cannabis seed market is swimming in Gorilla Glue variants. Here's how Expert Gorilla stacks up against two popular alternatives you'll find in our catalogue:

TraitExpert Gorilla (Expert Seeds)Gorilla Glue Auto (typical auto variant)Original GG#4 Clone-Only
TypeFeminised photoperiodAutoflowerClone only
THC24%18–22%25–28%

Outdoor Yield700g/plant100–200g/plantVariable

Hermie RiskModerate — monitor during flowerLowerModerate to high

Expert Gorilla sits in the sweet spot: you get near-clone-level potency and flavour in a feminised seed format, without needing to know someone who has the original cut. The autoflower versions are more convenient but sacrifice yield and a couple of THC percentage points. If you want the full GG#4 experience from seed, Expert Gorilla is the best route we'd recommend.

How to Grow Expert Gorilla Seeds

  1. Germination: Soak seeds in a glass of room-temperature water for 12–24 hours until they sink, then transfer to damp paper towels in a warm, dark spot (22–25°C). Taproots should emerge within 24–72 hours.
  2. Seedling stage: Plant the germinated seed 1cm deep in a small pot of light, well-aerated soil or coco coir. Keep humidity around 65–70% and light intensity low for the first week.
  3. Vegetative growth: Transplant into final containers (11–15L for indoor, 25L+ for outdoor) once the plant has 4–5 nodes. Expert Gorilla responds well to topping and LST — train early to manage the sativa stretch later.
  4. Flip to flower: Switch to a 12/12 light cycle when plants reach roughly half your desired final height. The stretch during weeks 1–2 of flower can double her size.
  5. Monitor for hermaphrodites: Check bud sites every 2–3 days from week 3 of flower onwards. Remove any pollen sacs (nanners) immediately with tweezers if spotted.
  6. Late flowering care: Drop humidity below 50% from week 5 onwards. The extreme resin production traps moisture — good airflow and dehumidification prevent bud rot.
  7. Harvest: At 58–63 days of flower indoors (late September outdoors), check trichomes with a jeweller's loupe. Harvest when most trichomes are milky with 10–20% amber for the full-spectrum effect.
  8. Drying and curing: Hang whole branches in a dark room at 18–20°C and 55–60% humidity for 7–10 days. Trim and cure in glass jars for a minimum of 2 weeks, burping daily for the first week.
