Why Unbleached Rolling Papers Make a Real Difference
Most white rolling papers get their colour from chlorine bleaching. That process leaves trace chemical residues in the paper. You might not taste them in a single smoke, but over weeks and months, those extras add up to a harsher, less pleasant experience. Unbleached papers skip that step entirely. The natural brown colour you see is the colour of the raw plant fibre — nothing added, nothing stripped away.
We've had customers switch from bleached to unbleached and come back saying they could actually taste their blend properly for the first time. That's not placebo — thinner, untreated paper genuinely interferes less with flavour. BEUZ papers are ultra-thin, which helps them burn evenly and slowly. Less paper, less ash, less aftertaste. The one thing to watch: ultra-thin papers can be slightly less forgiving if your rolling technique is rough. If you're heavy-handed or tend to overstuff, you might tear one occasionally while you get used to the feel. After a few rolls, though, the thinness actually becomes an advantage — you can feel exactly where the tobacco or herb sits, which gives you better control over shape and density. It's a bit like switching from thick gardening gloves to surgical ones.
How to Roll with BEUZ Unbleached Papers
- Grind your material to a medium-fine consistency. Too coarse and you'll get air pockets; too fine and it won't draw properly.
- Hold the paper with the gum strip facing you at the top, sticky side up. The natural brown colour means there's no "wrong" side — both faces are untreated.
- Create a filter tip from card or use a pre-made tip. Place it at one end of the paper.
- Distribute your ground material evenly along the paper's crease. About 0.5–0.75g fits a regular size paper comfortably — don't overfill.
- Pinch the paper between your thumbs and forefingers. Roll back and forth gently to shape the contents into a cylinder.
- Tuck the front edge of the paper under the material and roll upward. Lick the gum strip lightly — BEUZ uses natural gum, so it activates with minimal moisture.
- Twist or fold the open end. Tap the filter end on a flat surface a couple of times to settle the contents.
