Smoking is the Spanish paper house made by Miquel y Costas, pressing cigarette papers in Barcelona since 1879 and launching the Smoking brand in 1924. Every booklet you'll buy here is from that same factory — the one that figured out how to make 10g/m² skins that don't tear when you twist them. If you're new to the brand, the colour of the booklet tells you the material: Blue and Master are rice, Gold and DeLuxe are flax, Green is hemp, Brown is unbleached wood pulp, Thinnest and Thinnest Brown are the featherweight flagships.

The pattern across the range: the thinner the paper, the more of your blend you taste, and the more of your rolling skill the paper asks of you. A first-timer fumbling a Thinnest leaf will tear it. A practised roller will not.
If you've never used Smoking before, buy the Blue King Size. It's the house default — rice, neutral taste, forgiving to roll, and priced so you're not precious about the occasional wonky one. Once you've got the mechanics down, step up to DeLuxe King Size for a noticeably thinner burn, or try Green if you prefer hemp's slightly earthier note and textured grip.
Experienced rollers with steady hands should shop the Thinnest range. At 10g/m², these skins effectively disappear once lit — the paper taste drops to almost zero and the burn slows right down. The Gold King Size Slim is the move if you like slimmer joints with less paper around the blend. And if you're the sort who rolls 15cm monsters or tiny twists depending on mood, get the DeLuxe on Roll — four metres of 44mm paper, tear what you need.
When in doubt: Blue for learning, DeLuxe for every day, Thinnest when you want the paper out of the way entirely.
All Smoking papers in this range use natural Arabic gum for the seal — licks shut first time, no double-dragging the edge to get it to stick. If you're after tips or a rolling tray to go with the papers, we stock those under our accessories category.
Blue is rice paper in standard king size width; Gold is flax paper in king size slim (narrower). Blue gives you a neutral taste and a slightly easier roll for beginners. Gold is for slimmer joints and people who prefer how flax burns.
Smoking Thinnest and Thinnest Brown, both at 10g/m² — about 20% lighter than the rest of the Smoking range. DeLuxe comes next at 13g/m². If you want paper taste gone entirely, buy Thinnest.
Some of them. Smoking Green (hemp), Smoking Brown (wood pulp) and Smoking Thinnest Brown are all unbleached and chlorine-free. The rice and flax papers (Blue, Master, Gold, DeLuxe) go through standard bleaching for their natural white colour.
Most king size booklets hold 33 leaves. The DeLuxe Medium holds 50 leaves because the sheets are smaller (77×44mm). The DeLuxe on Roll gives you 4 metres of continuous paper — roughly 40 king-size lengths, depending on how you cut.
Rice (Blue, Master) burns slowest and tastes cleanest. Flax (Gold, DeLuxe) is thin and smooth with a very slight natural note. Hemp (Green) has more texture, grips well during rolling, and suits people who like a bit more character in the paper. There's no wrong answer — buy a booklet of each and pick your favourite.
