Metal Pipe Amazed by Red-Eye

The Metal Pipe Amazed is a compact metal smoking pipe by Red-Eye that cools your smoke through a 32cm internal maze — all packed into a body just 8.2cm long. That's nearly four times the smoke path of a standard straight pipe, crammed into something that fits in your palm. The result is a noticeably cooler, smoother draw without carrying around a full-sized piece.

VariantFinish
Brushed Stainless SteelMatte brushed metal — understated, hides fingerprints well
ChromeMirror-polished — looks sharp but shows every thumbprint
BlueAnodised blue — the one most people grab first
BrassWarm gold tone — develops a patina over time

All four variants are identical in function. The only difference is the finish. If you want something low-maintenance, go Brushed Stainless Steel. If you like a bit of flair, the Blue and Brass stand out.

Pair the Amazed pipe with a decent metal grinder to get an even, fine consistency — coarse chunks won't burn properly in a bowl this size. A pipe screen set is also worth grabbing to keep debris out of that 32cm maze, because cleaning a labyrinth of residue is nobody's idea of a good time.

Why the Maze Actually Matters

Here's the problem with most pocket pipes: they're short. A straight metal pipe that's 8cm long gives your smoke about 8cm to cool down before it hits the back of your throat. That's not much. The result is harsh, hot smoke that makes you cough and tastes like you're inhaling directly off a lighter flame. We've watched customers buy cheap straight pipes, use them twice, and switch to something else.

The Amazed pipe solves this with a dead-simple bit of engineering. Inside the body, the smoke doesn't travel in a straight line — it winds through a maze that stretches the path to 32cm. That's roughly 3.9 times the length of the pipe itself. More distance means more time for the smoke to cool and more surface area for it to lose some of its bite. You feel the difference on the first draw. It's not ice-cold like a water pipe, but it's noticeably less aggressive than a standard one-hitter or straight metal pipe.

The honest limitation: that maze is also the pipe's one maintenance headache. Resin builds up inside the labyrinth over time, and you can't just poke a pipe cleaner straight through it. You'll need to soak both halves in isopropyl alcohol periodically to keep the airflow clear. If you skip cleaning for weeks, the draw tightens up and the whole point of the maze design is lost. We'd say every 10–15 sessions, give it a soak. Takes five minutes of actual effort.

How the Amazed Pipe Feels in Hand

It's heavier than you'd expect for something 8.2cm long — the internal maze structure adds density. That's actually a good thing. It feels solid, not like a hollow tube that'll dent if you drop it on a table. The screw threading is smooth and precise, no cross-threading issues. The Brushed Stainless Steel version has a slightly textured grip to it, while the Chrome is slick and polished — looks great, but it can slip if your hands are warm. The Blue anodised finish has a subtle matte quality that sits somewhere between the two.

Compared to a glass pipe of similar size, the Amazed is practically indestructible. Glass gives you better flavour purity, no question — but glass also shatters when it rolls off a table. If you want something you can toss in a bag, take to a mate's place, and not worry about, this is the better pick. If flavour purity is your top priority and you're only smoking at home, a small glass spoon pipe might serve you better.

How to Use the Amazed Metal Pipe

  1. Unscrew the pipe by twisting the two halves apart. The threading is standard — lefty-loosey.
  2. Pack the bowl with your ground blend. Don't overstuff it — a light pinch is enough. You want air to flow through. Most small bowls like this hold roughly 25mg of dry herb, so think pinch, not pile.
  3. Screw the two halves back together firmly. Not gorilla-tight, just snug enough that no smoke escapes the seam.
  4. Hold the pipe with the bowl end angled slightly upward so nothing falls out before you light it.
  5. Light the bowl and draw slowly from the mouthpiece. Slow and steady — the maze creates slight resistance, so a gentle pull works better than a hard inhale.
  6. After your session, tap out the ash. If the bowl is still warm, let it cool before unscrewing to avoid burning your fingers on the threading.
  7. Every 10–15 sessions, disassemble and soak both halves in isopropyl alcohol for 20–30 minutes. Rinse with warm water, let dry completely before reassembling.
