Slipstream Cannabis Seeds by Compound Genetics

Slipstream is a feminized photoperiod cannabis seed from Compound Genetics that crosses Animal Mints with Jet Fuel Gelato to produce resin-drenched plants with 25–30% THC. If you want a strain that practically grows itself and still delivers frosty, terpene-loaded buds after just 9 weeks of flowering, this is the one to drop into your next run.

Compound Genetics built their reputation on crossing elite American genetics, and Slipstream shows why. The Animal Mints parent brings that creamy, slightly minty gas profile, while Jet Fuel Gelato layers in sour fruit and diesel. The result is a plant that smells like a petrol station next to a bakery — in the best possible way. We've had customers come back specifically to tell us about the nose on this one.

Feminized Photoperiod 25–30% THC 9-Week Flowering 450g/m² Indoor Yield 5 Seeds Per Pack

Slipstream Seed Variants and Pack Size

Slipstream ships in a single pack size of 5 feminized seeds. Every seed is female, so there is no need to identify and cull males during early flowering. Five seeds give you enough to fill a 1m² canopy comfortably, or to pop three and keep two as backup in case germination throws you a curveball — though with Compound Genetics' track record, germination rates tend to be solid.

5 feminized seeds per pack. All photoperiod — these plants need a shift to 12/12 light to trigger flowering. Not autoflowers. If you are running a tent on 18/6 for veg, plan your flip around week 4–5 of vegetative growth for a manageable canopy height.

Slipstream Grow Specifications

Complete your setup: If you are running Slipstream indoors, pair it with a complete grow tent kit that includes ventilation and a carbon filter — you will want proper odour control once those gas and cream terpenes start filling the room around week 5 of flower. A magnifying loupe or jeweller's scope is also worth grabbing so you can check trichome ripeness before harvest.

Why Slipstream Stands Out in a Crowded Seed Market

We have carried a lot of Compound Genetics strains over the years, and Slipstream is one of the most straightforward performers in their catalogue. The reason is simple: this plant does not ask much from you. It does not stretch excessively, it handles minor feeding mistakes without throwing a fit, and it finishes in 9 weeks — not "9 to 11 weeks, depending on phenotype," but a genuine 9 weeks for most growers.

The resin production is where Slipstream really earns its keep. By week 6 of flowering, the buds develop a visible sheen of trichomes that extends down onto the sugar leaves and even the upper fan leaves. That is not just cosmetic — it means more material for dry sift or bubble hash if you are into extractions. At 25–30% THC, the potency is serious. This is not a daytime-functional strain for most people. The initial effects lean uplifting and cerebral, but they settle into deep physical relaxation within an hour or so. Good for an evening session, less ideal before a bike ride across town.

The honest limitation? Slipstream is not the biggest yielder in the Compound Genetics lineup. At around 450g/m² indoors, it sits in the middle of the pack. If you are chasing maximum weight per watt, strains like their Apples and Bananas or even a classic Gorilla Glue cross will out-produce it. But what Slipstream lacks in sheer volume, it makes up for in quality — the terpene profile and resin density are a cut above most strains in this flowering window.

Compared to something like Barney's Farm Gorilla Zkittlez, which also finishes around 9 weeks, Slipstream offers a more complex flavour profile and noticeably denser trichome coverage. The trade-off is yield: Gorilla Zkittlez can push past 500g/m² with the right setup. If flavour and bag appeal matter more to you than raw numbers, we would pick Slipstream every time.

Slipstream Terpene Profile and Flavour

Slipstream's terpene profile is genuinely distinctive. The first thing you notice when you crack a cured bud is a sharp, sour gas hit — that is the Jet Fuel Gelato lineage doing its thing. Underneath, there is a layer of earthy sweetness and a creamy finish that comes from the Animal Mints side. It smells a bit like someone spilled diesel on a vanilla sponge cake, and somehow that works.

When smoked or vaporised, the flavour follows the nose closely. The inhale is gassy and slightly sour, the exhale smooths out into cream and fruit. There is a faint earthiness that lingers on the palate. If you have tried other Animal Mints crosses, you will recognise that signature minty-cream undertone, but the Jet Fuel Gelato adds a sharpness that keeps it from being one-dimensional.

Flavour Note Intensity Source Parent
Sour Gas / Diesel Strong Jet Fuel Gelato
Cream / Vanilla Medium Animal Mints
Fruit Medium Jet Fuel Gelato
Earth Mild Both parents
Mint Subtle Animal Mints

How to Grow Slipstream Cannabis Seeds

Slipstream is genuinely low-maintenance. That said, a few targeted steps will get you the best results from your 5 seeds.

  1. Germinate using the paper towel method. Place seeds between damp (not soaking) paper towels on a plate, cover loosely, and keep at 22–26°C. Taproots should emerge within 24–72 hours.
  2. Transplant into small pots. Once the taproot is 1–2cm long, plant it root-down into a small pot (0.5–1L) filled with light, airy soil or coco coir. Keep the medium moist but not waterlogged.
  3. Veg under 18/6 light for 4–5 weeks. Slipstream does not stretch excessively, so you can veg a little longer if you want a bigger plant. An 80x80cm tent fits 4 plants comfortably in 11L pots.
  4. Flip to 12/12 to trigger flowering. You will see the first pistils within 7–10 days of the light change. From this point, count 9 weeks to harvest.
  5. Feed moderately through flower. Slipstream is not a heavy feeder. A standard bloom nutrient at 75% of the manufacturer's recommended strength works well. Overfeeding is more likely to cause problems than underfeeding with this strain.
  6. Watch the trichomes from week 7. Use a loupe or digital microscope. Harvest when most trichomes are milky white with 10–20% turning amber for peak potency and flavour. Harvesting too early (all clear trichomes) will cost you both THC content and terpene development.
  7. Dry in a dark room at 18–20°C and 55–60% humidity for 10–14 days. Slow drying preserves terpenes. Cure in glass jars for at least 2 weeks, burping daily for the first week.
