SexBud Cannabis Seeds by Female Seeds

SexBud is a sativa-dominant feminised cannabis seed from Female Seeds that takes the legendary C99 genetics and refines them into something altogether more energising, more aromatic, and — if the name is anything to go by — more fun. She grows tall with classic sativa structure, coats herself in frosty trichomes, and delivers a fruity, tropical flavour profile that hits you before you even grind the bud. With a flowering time of roughly 8 weeks and yields up to 500-600g per plant outdoors, she punches well above her weight for a sativa-leaning hybrid.

Why SexBud Cannabis Seeds Stand Out

Female Seeds built SexBud on the backbone of Cinderella 99 — a strain that already had a cult following for its uplifting, cerebral effects and pineapple-forward terpene profile. What they did with SexBud is sharpen those qualities. The energy is more pronounced, the fruity aroma more intense, and the social, creative headspace more dialled in. The breeder specifically markets this one as an inhibition-lowering strain, and while we can't make promises about your love life, we can tell you the high is active, chatty, and genuinely fun.

The flavour is where SexBud really announces herself. Crack open a cured bud and you get a wave of tropical fruit — think ripe pineapple with a sweet, almost candy-like undertone. It carries through to the smoke and the exhale. If you've grown C99 before and enjoyed the taste, SexBud is that but turned up a notch. It's one of the fruitier strains we carry, full stop.

One honest limitation: she's not a cold-weather warrior. SexBud does well indoors and outdoors in temperate to warm climates, but if your grow spot regularly dips below 15°C at night during flowering, you'll want to bring her inside or pick a hardier strain. She's not fragile, but she's not built for a Scottish autumn either.

SexBud Yield and Growth Characteristics

SexBud is a medium-difficulty grow — not the first seed you should pop if you've never grown before, but absolutely manageable if you've got one or two cycles under your belt. She stretches during early flowering like most sativa-dominant plants, so indoor growers need to account for vertical space or train her early. Low-stress training (LST) or a ScrOG net works brilliantly here. Tying down those long branches exposes more bud sites to light and keeps the canopy even.

Yield numbers are genuinely impressive for a sativa-leaning strain. Indoors, expect around 500g per square metre with proper lighting and nutrition. Outdoors in a warm climate with plenty of sun, individual plants can produce 450–600g each. That's not a typo — she's a heavy producer when she gets what she needs. The key is consistent feeding during flowering and enough light intensity to drive those buds to full density.

The trichome coverage is notable too. By week 6-7 of flowering, the buds and surrounding sugar leaves develop a thick frost. If you're growing for flavour and bag appeal, SexBud delivers on both fronts.

How to Grow SexBud Cannabis Seeds

  1. Germinate your feminised SexBud seeds using the paper towel method or directly in a starter plug. Keep the environment warm (22–25°C) and moist. Taproots typically emerge within 24–72 hours.
  2. Transplant seedlings into your chosen medium once the taproot is 1–2cm long. SexBud does well in soil, coco coir, or hydro setups. Start under 18/6 light for the vegetative phase.
  3. Begin low-stress training early in veg — SexBud's sativa stretch means she'll gain significant height once you flip to 12/12. Bending and tying main stems encourages a wider, more productive canopy.
  4. Switch to a 12/12 light cycle to trigger flowering. Expect noticeable stretch during the first 2 weeks. Increase phosphorus and potassium in your feed schedule as buds begin to form.
  5. Monitor temperature closely. SexBud prefers daytime temperatures of 22–28°C and does not respond well to cold snaps. Keep nighttime temps above 15°C.
  6. Harvest after approximately 8 weeks of flowering. Check trichomes with a loupe — mostly milky with a few amber heads is the sweet spot for that energetic, creative effect SexBud is known for.
  7. Dry in a dark, well-ventilated space at 18–22°C and 55–60% humidity for 7–10 days. Cure in glass jars for at least 2 weeks to bring out the full tropical fruit flavour.

Yield potential Up to 500g/m² indoor, 450–600g/plant outdoor 400–500g/m² indoor

Effect character Energetic, social, creative, inhibition-lowering Uplifting, cerebral
Cold tolerance Low — needs warmth Moderate
Grow difficulty Medium Easy to medium

If you've grown C99 and enjoyed the experience, SexBud is the logical next step — more yield, more flavour, same fast flowering window. The trade-off is she's slightly less forgiving in cooler conditions. For growers in northern climates without climate-controlled indoor spaces, something like a hardier indica-dominant hybrid might be a safer bet. But if you can keep her warm, SexBud rewards you handsomely.

Growing SexBud indoors? A complete grow tent kit with proper ventilation and carbon filtration makes a real difference — especially with a strain this aromatic. Pair with a pH meter and quality nutrients to hit those 500g/m² yields. If you're after a contrasting strain for your next run, look at an indica-dominant option to round out your stash with something more relaxing.
