Lemon Z Cannabis Seeds by Dutch Passion

Lemon Z is a feminised photoperiod cannabis seed from Dutch Passion that delivers zesty, limonene-rich sativa genetics with a revamped flowering time of just 8–9 weeks indoors. Born from the original Lemon Z — which swept Best Sativa and Best Weed at the 2018 Highlife Cannabis Cup — this updated version crosses that award-winning Original Z (Zkittlez) x Las Vegas Lemon Skunk lineage with Lemon Tree, resulting in simpler growth traits and faster harvests without sacrificing flavour or potency.

Why Lemon Z Seeds Deserve a Spot in Your Grow

The original Lemon Z was already a favourite — a proper cup winner with a terpene profile that could fill a room from across the hall. But Dutch Passion clearly listened to grower feedback, because this revised version addresses the two things people actually complained about: flowering time and fussiness. By introducing Lemon Tree genetics into the cross, they've shaved the bloom period down to a manageable 8–9 weeks indoors and made the plant more forgiving overall.

What you get is a sativa that actually behaves. She grows tall — no getting around that — but her high stress tolerance means you can top, LST, or SCROG her without the drama some sativas give you. We've seen growers fit Lemon Z into 80x80 tents with proper training, though if you've got a 120x120 or a spare room, she'll reward the extra headroom with longer colas and heavier yields. Outdoors, she thrives in Mediterranean-style climates with warm, humid summers, finishing around October.

The honest limitation? She's still a sativa-leaning plant. If your tent is 60x60 and you've never trained a plant before, you'll have a fight on your hands. Start with something shorter and bushier — Dutch Passion's own Think Different would be a safer first grow. But if you've got one or two runs under your belt and you want a strain that smells like a lemon grove hit by a sugar truck, Lemon Z is the one we'd pick.

Lemon Z Terpene Profile and Aroma

Pop the lid on a curing jar of Lemon Z and the room fills with sweet citrus immediately — this isn't subtle. The dominant terpenes are limonene, myrcene, pinene, caryophyllene, and bisabolol, which together create a layered aroma that starts with sharp lemon zest on top, settles into a sweet, almost candy-like middle, and finishes with a faint herbal earthiness. The smoke follows suit: inhale tastes like lemon drops, exhale carries a peppery warmth from the caryophyllene. If you've grown Zkittlez-family genetics before, imagine that fruity sweetness sharpened with actual citrus bite.

Visually, the buds are classic sativa — long, tapered colas with wispy flowers, a semi-tight structure, bright green calyxes, and a golden-yellow hue that photographs beautifully. Trichome coverage is generous across the upper canopy, which is where that 20% THC ceiling comes from.

How to Grow Lemon Z Seeds

  1. Germination: Soak your Lemon Z seeds in a glass of water for 12–24 hours until they sink, then transfer to damp paper towels in a warm, dark spot (20–25°C). Taproots typically emerge within 24–72 hours.
  2. Seedling stage: Plant the germinated seed 1–2cm deep in a small pot with light, airy soil or coco coir. Keep humidity around 65–70% and light intensity low for the first week.
  3. Vegetative growth: Switch to 18/6 light cycle. Lemon Z grows tall, so begin low-stress training early — bend and tie main stems outward to open the canopy. She handles topping well thanks to her high stress tolerance, so don't be afraid to top above the 4th or 5th node.
  4. Flip to flower: Switch to 12/12 when the plant reaches roughly half your desired final height — sativas stretch significantly in the first 2–3 weeks of bloom. Expect 8–9 weeks of flowering indoors.
  5. Feeding: Lemon Z responds well to a balanced nutrient regime. Increase phosphorus and potassium during mid-to-late bloom to support those long sativa colas. Watch for calcium and magnesium needs if growing in coco.
  6. Harvest: Check trichomes with a jeweller's loupe — harvest when most trichomes are milky with a few turning amber for a more uplifting effect. Outdoor growers in Mediterranean climates should be chopping around mid-to-late October.
  7. Drying and curing: Hang whole branches in a dark room at 18–20°C and 55–60% humidity for 10–14 days. Trim and jar when stems snap cleanly. Cure for at least 2 weeks — that's when Lemon Z's citrus terpenes really develop their full sweetness.

Complete your setup: Growing Lemon Z indoors? A carbon filter is non-negotiable — her limonene-heavy terpene profile means the citrus aroma will escape through every seam and duct port. Pair your seeds with a complete grow tent kit that includes extraction, filtration, and lighting. For outdoor growers, a set of plant training clips makes LST much easier on those tall sativa branches.
