Royal Dwarf Autoflower Seeds by Royal Queen Seeds

Royal Dwarf is a feminized autoflowering cannabis seed that tops out at just 40–60 cm tall — genuinely compact enough for a windowsill, a balcony corner, or that tiny cupboard you've been eyeing up. Bred by Royal Queen Seeds from an Easy Bud x Skunk cross, this little plant packs old-school Skunk genetics into a frame that barely reaches your knee. Seed to harvest in 8–9 weeks. No light schedule fiddling. Just plant, water, and wait.

How Many Seeds Do You Need?

Royal Dwarf autoflower seeds come in packs of 1, 3, 5, or 10. Because these plants stay so small, you can fit several into a space that would normally hold one photoperiod plant. Running a 60x60 cm tent? You could comfortably fit 4–6 Royal Dwarfs. Balcony with a few spare pots? Grab a 3-pack and see how you get on. The 10-pack makes sense if you want to fill a small tent in one go or run a continuous rotation — stagger your planting by 2–3 weeks and you'll have a rolling harvest all season.

Complete your micro-grow setup: pair Royal Dwarf seeds with a small propagator for germination and a compact LED panel — even a low-wattage light will do the job when your canopy never exceeds 60 cm. If you're growing on a balcony or windowsill, a fabric pot in the 5–7 litre range keeps things tidy and gives the roots just enough room without encouraging the plant to stretch beyond its natural size.

Why Royal Dwarf Autoflower Seeds Belong in Your Grow

We've been selling cannabis seeds since the early days, and the question we hear most often from first-time growers hasn't changed in 25 years: "What if I don't have much space?" Royal Dwarf is the honest answer. At 40–60 cm, this plant is shorter than most houseplants. It doesn't need a dedicated tent, a light timer, or a degree in horticulture. The ruderalis genetics mean it flowers automatically regardless of light cycle — stick it on a sunny windowsill and it'll do its thing.

The trade-off? Yield. At up to 60 g per plant, you're not going to fill a jar the size of your head. But that's not what Royal Dwarf is for. It's for the grower who wants a discreet, low-maintenance plant that goes from seed to harvest in 8–9 weeks without drama. We'd pick Royal Dwarf over Quick One if stealth is your priority — Quick One stretches a bit taller and takes roughly the same time, but Royal Dwarf stays reliably compact. If you want more yield and don't mind a slightly bigger footprint, Northern Light Auto from the same seed bank is worth a look.

The honest limitation: 13% THC isn't going to knock your socks off. If you're chasing potency, this isn't your strain. But if you want a mellow, physically relaxing smoke with old-school Skunk character — the kind that makes you sink into the sofa rather than stare at the ceiling — Royal Dwarf delivers exactly that. The buds come out surprisingly resinous for such a small plant, with a dense, sticky coating that smells distinctly skunky with an earthy undertone. Break one open and you'll get that classic pungent whiff that Skunk smokers from the '90s will recognise immediately.

Growing Royal Dwarf Autoflower Seeds: Step by Step

Royal Dwarf autoflower seeds are among the most forgiving cannabis seeds you can grow. The entire cycle from germination to harvest takes 8–9 weeks, and the ruderalis genetics handle most of the heavy lifting. Here's how to get the best out of them.

  1. Germinate your Royal Dwarf seed using the paper towel method: place the seed between two damp (not soaking) sheets of kitchen roll on a plate, cover with a second plate, and keep it warm (20–25°C). A taproot should appear within 24–72 hours.
  2. Plant the germinated seed taproot-down into a small pot (5–11 litres is the sweet spot) filled with light, airy soil. Bury it about 1–2 cm deep. Autoflowers don't like being transplanted, so plant directly into the final container.
  3. Place the pot in a spot that gets at least 18 hours of light per day. Indoors, a simple LED panel on an 18/6 or 20/4 schedule works well. Outdoors, a south-facing balcony or windowsill with direct sunlight is enough during spring and summer months.
  4. Water when the top centimetre of soil feels dry. Royal Dwarf is small and doesn't drink much — overwatering is the single most common mistake we see with compact autoflowers. Let the soil dry out slightly between waterings.
  5. Feed lightly. Start with a mild vegetative nutrient around week 2, then switch to a bloom formula when you see the first pistils (usually around week 3–4). Keep nutrient concentrations at roughly half the manufacturer's recommended dose — Royal Dwarf's small root system burns easily. Around 400 ppm has been reported as a comfortable range for this strain.
  6. Avoid heavy training. Low-stress techniques like gentle leaf tucking can help light reach lower bud sites, but topping or high-stress training on a plant this small usually costs more time than it gains. Let it grow naturally.
  7. Harvest when roughly 70–80% of the trichomes have turned milky white, with a few amber ones appearing. This typically falls around week 8–9 from seed. The resinous buds will be dense and compact — dry them slowly in a dark space at 18–22°C for 7–10 days, then cure in glass jars for at least two weeks.

The Smoke: What Royal Dwarf Actually Tastes and Feels Like

Royal Dwarf delivers a mild, social smoke with a physically relaxing body stone — the kind that takes the edge off without gluing you to the furniture. At around 13% THC, the effect is gentle and manageable. You'll feel it settle into your shoulders and lower back first, then a calm, slightly creative headspace follows. It's not a heavy hitter, and that's the point.

The aroma is intense for such a small plant. Expect pungent Skunk notes — earthy, slightly sweet, with a dank undertone that fills the room when you crack a jar. The flavour follows suit: classic skunky taste on the inhale, smooth and slightly herbal on the exhale. Old-school Skunk smokers will feel right at home. If you've been growing modern strains with 25%+ THC and fruity terpene profiles, Royal Dwarf is a refreshing step back to something simpler and more traditional.
