OG Kush Feminized Seeds — Reserva Privada

OG Kush is a feminized photoperiod cannabis seed from Reserva Privada (DNA Genetics' reserve line) that delivers the diesel-soaked, lemon-sharp terpene profile the original Chemdawg cut made famous. This isn't a re-interpretation or a "Kush-inspired" cross — it's the real thing, brought to seed form and feminized so every bean produces a flowering female. The cut took 2nd place in the Indoor Hydro Cup at Spannabis 2010, and it's been a fixture in serious seed collections ever since. Flowering wraps up in 8–9 weeks with yields of 400–500g per square metre indoors, making it a proper producer for a strain with this much flavour reputation.

Feminized (Photoperiod) Chemdawg Genetics 8–9 Week Flowering 400–500g/m2 Yield 18+ only

Choose Your Pack Size

Pack Seeds SKU Best For
Standard 6 seeds CSRP0023 Single-run growers or your first go with OG Kush
Value 10 seeds CSRP0009 Pheno hunters or growers filling a full ScrOG canopy

Both packs are feminized — no males to cull. The 10-pack is the one we'd grab if you're running a ScrOG setup and want to fill a full metre squared. OG Kush can throw noticeable phenotype variation between plants, so more seeds means you can pick the standout and run clones from there. If you just want to grow a few plants and see what the fuss is about, the 6-pack does the job.

Why OG Kush Feminized Seeds Belong in Your Collection

We've been selling cannabis seeds since the early 2000s, and OG Kush is one of those strains that never drops off the radar. There's a reason for that. The Chemdawg genetics behind this cut produce a terpene profile that hits you before you even open the jar — sharp diesel fuel, bright lemon peel, and a dank, earthy undertone that sticks to your fingers. When the buds are properly cured, the smell alone tells you what you're dealing with. Rock-hard nugs coated in a thick layer of trichomes. Sticky to the touch. The kind of frost that makes you reach for the macro lens.

The dominant terpenes — myrcene, limonene, and caryophyllene — are responsible for that unmistakable scent. Myrcene brings the earthy, musky base. Limonene adds the citrus sharpness. Caryophyllene rounds it out with a peppery, fuel-like bite. Together, they create a flavour profile that's been copied by hundreds of crosses but never quite matched. According to research published in the British Journal of Pharmacology, these terpenes may contribute to a broader entourage effect when present alongside cannabinoids (Russo, 2011 — PMC3165946). That's the science behind why whole-plant profiles tend to feel more complete than isolated compounds.

The honest limitation? OG Kush isn't the most forgiving strain for total beginners. She's not a nightmare, but she rewards growers who pay attention to feeding schedules and environmental control. Overfeeding is the most common mistake we hear about — Kush varieties tend to be sensitive to high EC levels, especially in the first few weeks of flower. If you've grown a couple of runs before and want to step up to something with a bit more character, this is a brilliant next move. If it's your very first grow ever, consider starting with something like Northern Lights feminized to build confidence, then come back to OG Kush for round two.

How to Grow OG Kush Feminized Seeds

OG Kush responds well to hands-on growing techniques. She's a natural ScrOG candidate — the branching structure fills a screen nicely, and training during veg pays off with a more even canopy and better light penetration across all bud sites. Here's a straightforward approach.

  1. Germinate your OG Kush feminized seeds using the paper towel method or directly in a moist propagation plug. Taproots typically emerge within 24–72 hours at 22–25°C.
  2. Transplant into your chosen medium once the taproot is 1–2cm long. OG Kush performs well in both soil and hydro — the Spannabis 2010 win was in hydro, if that sways you.
  3. Veg for 4–6 weeks under 18/6 light. Top or FIM early to encourage lateral branching. If you're running a ScrOG, start weaving branches through the screen once they reach it.
  4. Flip to 12/12 when 60–70% of the screen is filled. OG Kush stretches moderately in the first 2 weeks of flower, so account for that.
  5. Keep relative humidity below 50% from week 4 of flower onwards. Those dense, resinous buds are prone to mould if airflow is poor. A good extraction fan and oscillating clip fan are non-negotiable.
  6. Feed conservatively. Start at 50–60% of the manufacturer's recommended nutrient strength and increase only if the plant asks for it. Watch for tip burn — it's the first sign you've pushed too hard.
  7. Flush for the final 7–10 days before harvest. Trichomes should be mostly cloudy with a few turning amber when viewed under a jeweller's loupe (30x–60x magnification).
  8. Dry slowly at 18–20°C and 55–60% humidity for 10–14 days, then cure in glass jars for at least 2 weeks. OG Kush's terpene profile improves dramatically with a proper cure — rush this step and you lose half the flavour.

OG Kush Terpenes and Flavour Profile

The terpene profile is the reason people keep coming back to OG Kush. Three dominant terpenes define the experience:

Myrcene is the most abundant terpene in most OG Kush phenotypes. It's the same compound found in mangoes, hops, and lemongrass, and it contributes the earthy, musky base note that grounds the whole profile.

Limonene delivers the sharp lemon-peel brightness. It's immediately recognisable when you crack a bud open — that citrus punch that cuts through the diesel. Limonene is also found in orange rind and juniper.

Caryophyllene adds the peppery, spicy edge. It's the only terpene known to interact directly with CB2 receptors, which is why researchers have taken a particular interest in it. According to the review "Taming THC: potential cannabis combination and phytocannabinoid-terpenoid entourage effects" (Russo, 2011 — PMC3165946), caryophyllene's interaction with the endocannabinoid system may contribute to the overall character of cannabis varieties rich in this terpene.

When you open a jar of properly cured OG Kush, the first thing that hits you is fuel. Not subtle, not "hints of diesel" — proper, pungent fuel. Then the lemon comes through, sharp and acidic. Underneath it all, there's a dank, almost piney earthiness that lingers on your hands for hours. It's the kind of smell that announces itself through two zip-lock bags.

OG Kush vs Other Kush Feminized Seeds

If you've been looking at Kush varieties and wondering where OG Kush sits in the lineup, here's the short version: it's the original template that most modern Kush crosses descend from. The Chemdawg genetics give it a sharper, more fuel-forward profile than something like Hindu Kush or Purple Kush, which tend to lean sweeter and more sedative. OG Kush also runs a bit stretchier than pure indica Kush varieties — expect more vertical growth during the flip, which is why ScrOG training works so well.

Compared to Reserva Privada's other offerings, OG Kush sits in the middle ground for difficulty. It's not as straightforward as their Kandy Kush, but it's less demanding than something like their Sour Kush. If you want the iconic OG profile without crossing into expert-only territory, this is the one.

Running a full indoor setup? Pair these OG Kush feminized seeds with a proper grow tent and carbon filter — those terpenes are pungent, and your neighbours will know about it without adequate extraction. A ScrOG net is also worth grabbing if you don't already have one; it's the single best technique for maximising OG Kush yields in a limited canopy space.
