Mimosa Cannabis Seeds by Royal Queen Seeds
Mimosa is a sativa-dominant feminised cannabis seed from Royal Queen Seeds that crosses Clementine with Purple Punch to produce compact, heavy-yielding plants loaded with 22% THC. With a flowering time of just 9–10 weeks, stocky growth that tops out around 80cm indoors, and a rich citrus-earth terpene profile, this strain is one of the best cannabis seeds for growers who want big results from a small footprint. We've watched this one climb steadily in popularity over the past few seasons — and the combination of manageable height, solid genetics, and genuinely impressive resin production makes it easy to see why.
Pack Sizes
Mimosa feminised seeds are available in packs of 1, 3, 5, or 10. If you're running a single plant to test the genetics, the 1-seed pack gets you started. For a proper SOG or ScrOG run where you want uniform canopy coverage, the 10-pack gives you the numbers to fill a 1.2m x 1.2m tent comfortably. The 3-pack is the sweet spot for most home growers — enough to select a strong pheno without overcommitting on space.
Why Mimosa Seeds Deserve a Spot in Your Grow Room
There are plenty of sativa-dominant hybrids out there that promise big yields and then grow like unruly trees, stretching past your light and crashing into the tent ceiling by week four of flower. Mimosa doesn't do that. Despite being 70% sativa, she stays remarkably compact — roughly 80cm indoors and around 100cm outdoors. That's shorter than a lot of indica-dominant strains we carry. The tight internodal spacing means you get dense bud sites stacked close together rather than airy popcorn scattered along lanky branches.
The genetics here tell the story. Clementine brings that sharp, zesty citrus nose and sativa-leaning effects. Purple Punch contributes the structure, the density, and — if you drop your night temperatures during late flower — those gorgeous purple hues that make your jars look like they belong in a dispensary window. Royal Queen Seeds have stabilised this cross well. We'd pick Mimosa over a lot of the "exotic" American genetics floating around right now, simply because the consistency is there. You're not gambling on phenotype lottery with every seed.
The one thing to watch: that thick canopy. Mimosa's large fan leaves and tight spacing mean the interior can get dense and humid fast. If you skip defoliation, you're inviting mould — especially in the final weeks when those buds are swelling. Plan on stripping lower growth and thinning the canopy at least twice during flower. It's not optional with this strain; it's part of the deal.
Mimosa Strain Terpene Profile and Aroma
Crack open a cured jar of Mimosa and the first thing that hits you is bright, sweet citrus — like fresh-squeezed clementine juice with a twist of orange peel. That's the Clementine parent talking. Underneath, there's a deeper earthy, almost woody base that grounds the whole profile and stops it from being one-dimensional. The dominant terpene is myrcene, which is the same compound you'll find in mangoes and hops, and it contributes to that rich, rounded character.
Alongside the THC (testing at 22%), Mimosa produces notable levels of CBG — a minor cannabinoid that researchers are increasingly interested in for its distinct interaction with the endocannabinoid system. The combination of high THC, CBG, and a myrcene-forward terpene profile gives Mimosa a character that leans towards deep physical relaxation paired with a calm, focused headspace. Think quiet evenings with a book, a guitar, or a sketchpad — not a party strain, but a creative one.

Growing Mimosa Cannabis Seeds: Training and Techniques
Mimosa is one of those strains that actually rewards growers who like to get hands-on with training. Her compact structure and uniform height make her a natural fit for ScrOG setups — weave those branches through the net during the stretch and you'll end up with a flat, even canopy that catches light across every bud site. She also performs well in SOG configurations, where her consistent height means you won't have one plant towering over its neighbours.
For training, she handles both low-stress (LST) and high-stress techniques without throwing a tantrum. Topping, mainlining, and lollipopping all work well here. If you're growing in a small tent — say a 60x60 or 80x80 — topping once and then using LST to open up the canopy is probably the most efficient approach. In larger spaces, mainlining to 8 colas gives you a beautiful, symmetrical plant that maximises that 350–400g/m² indoor yield potential.
- Germinate seeds using the paper towel method or directly in a propagation plug. Mimosa germinates reliably within 24–72 hours.
- Transplant seedlings into their final containers once the first true leaves appear. A 7–11 litre pot works well for indoor grows; outdoors, 20 litres or more gives the roots room to support that 500g harvest.
- Top the main stem above the 4th or 5th node once the plant has developed 6 nodes. This encourages lateral branching and a bushier shape.
- Begin LST by gently bending and tying down the main branches to create an even canopy. Start early — the stems are more pliable during vegetative growth.
- Defoliate large fan leaves that block light to lower bud sites. Do a first pass in late veg and a second around week 3 of flower. Don't strip everything — just open up the interior.
- Switch to a 12/12 light cycle to trigger flowering. Expect 9–10 weeks from flip to harvest.
- If you want purple colouration, drop night temperatures to 15–18°C during the final 2–3 weeks of flower. This activates anthocyanin pigments inherited from the Purple Punch parent.
- Harvest when trichomes are mostly milky with around 10–20% amber. Dry slowly in a dark room at 18–20°C and 55–60% humidity for 10–14 days, then cure in glass jars for at least 2 weeks.
Mimosa vs Other Compact Sativa Seeds
If you like the idea of a short sativa but aren't sure Mimosa is the one, here's how she stacks up against two other popular compact options from the Royal Queen Seeds catalogue:
| Trait | Mimosa | Green Gelato | Sherbet Queen |
|---|---|---|---|
| Genetics | Clementine x Purple Punch | Thin Mint GSC x Sunset Sherbet | Pink Panties x Girl Scout Cookies |
| THC | 22% | 27% | 24% |
| Flowering Time | 9–10 weeks | 8–10 weeks | 8–9 weeks |
| Indoor Yield | 350–400g/m² | 500–700g/m² | 425–475g/m² |
| Indoor Height | ~80cm | 80–120cm | 90–160cm |
| Dominant Flavour | Citrus / Earthy | Cookie / Sweet | Sweet / Candy |
Green Gelato yields more and hits harder, but she can stretch taller and demands more headroom. Sherbet Queen finishes a touch faster but doesn't stay as compact. Mimosa is the pick if you want the shortest, most predictable plant with a citrus-forward profile — she's the best compact sativa seed for growers working with limited vertical space.
Running Mimosa in a ScrOG? Pair her with a proper grow tent and carbon filter setup — that citrus terpene profile gets loud in the final weeks of flower, and your neighbours will notice without proper extraction. A 600D mylar-lined tent with a decent inline fan keeps everything contained and your canopy evenly lit.
