Black Leaf Glass Tips — Ditch the Soggy Cardboard
Black Leaf glass tips are a set of three reusable borosilicate glass filter tips that replace disposable cardboard roaches for a cleaner, cooler smoke every time. The set includes three different diameters — 6mm, 7mm, and 8mm — so you can match the tip to however thick or thin you like to roll. They come in a protective metal tin that fits in your pocket, and each tip carries the Black Leaf logo stamped into the glass.
Which Diameter Do You Need?
The set gives you all three sizes, so you can experiment. The 6mm tip suits slim rolls and king-size papers. The 7mm is the middle ground — works with most standard papers and is the one we reach for most often. The 8mm is for fatter rolls or if you prefer a wider draw. All three accept standard cotton or activated charcoal filter tips of the matching diameter, so you can push a filter inside for extra filtration if you want.

Why Glass Tips Beat Cardboard Every Time
Cardboard roaches do the job for about three minutes before they go soggy, collapse, and start tasting like wet paper. We've watched customers roll perfectly good material into a joint, then ruin the last third because the tip disintegrates. It is genuinely one of the most avoidable problems in rolling.
Glass solves all of it. Borosilicate glass — the same stuff used in laboratory beakers — doesn't absorb moisture, doesn't transfer taste, and doesn't deform under heat. The flat mouthpiece on these Black Leaf tips sits comfortably between your lips without that sharp cardboard edge. And because the glass is smooth and non-porous, resin doesn't soak in — it wipes off. A quick soak in isopropyl alcohol and they look brand new.
The one thing to watch: glass is glass. Drop one on tiles and it can chip or shatter. That is the honest trade-off versus cardboard. The metal tin helps — keep them in there when they are not in use and you will get years out of a set. We have had the same glass tips on our desk for longer than we would like to admit.
What Makes These Black Leaf Tips Clever
The standout detail is the blown-in dimples near the mouthpiece end. These are small indentations in the inner wall of the glass that act as a physical barrier — loose material gets caught before it reaches your mouth. It is a simple bit of glassblowing, but it works noticeably better than a straight tube with no obstruction.
The other end of each tip is left open at the full diameter. That means you can push a standard cotton filter tip or an activated charcoal filter tip inside for a second layer of filtration. The 6mm tip accepts 6mm filters, the 7mm accepts 7mm, the 8mm accepts 8mm — straightforward. Activated charcoal filters in particular do a solid job of catching tar and other combustion by-products, giving you a noticeably smoother draw. You do not have to use a filter insert — the dimples alone work fine — but the option is there if you want the cleanest smoke possible.
Each tip weighs next to nothing and at 30mm long, they sit flush in a standard roll without sticking out awkwardly. The flat mouthpiece is a small touch that makes a real difference — round tips tend to roll off tables and feel odd against your lips. Flat stays put.
How to Use Black Leaf Glass Tips
- Pick your diameter. For slim rolls, start with the 6mm. For standard rolls, the 7mm. For wider rolls, the 8mm.
- If you want extra filtration, push a cotton or activated charcoal filter tip into the open end of the glass tip before rolling. It should fit snugly.
- Place the glass tip at one end of your paper and roll around it as you normally would with a cardboard roach. The glass gives you a solid cylinder to wrap against, which actually makes rolling easier.
- Smoke as normal. The dimples near the mouthpiece catch loose material before it reaches your lips.
- After use, tap out any loose debris. For a deeper clean, soak the tip in isopropyl alcohol (90% or higher) for 10–15 minutes, then rinse with warm water and let it dry. A pipe cleaner works well for stubborn residue inside the tube.
- Store all three tips back in the metal tin to prevent chips or breakage.
