Fresh vs dried

When drying psychedelic mushrooms, such as Psilocybe cubensis, they undergo a significant reduction in weight. Fresh mushrooms typically contain about 90% to 95% water, so when they are dried, they lose most of this water content. As a result, the mushrooms retain only about 5% to 10% of their original weight.

When using dried mushrooms, the dosage needs to be adjusted because they are more concentrated than fresh mushrooms. Generally, 1 gram of dried mushrooms is roughly equivalent to 10 grams of fresh mushrooms.

The right dose for the right experience

A common dosage for dried psilocybin mushrooms is about 1-3 grams for a mild to moderate experience, and 3-5 grams for a stronger experience.

Airtight Containers

Use airtight containers such as glass jars with rubber seals, vacuum-sealed bags, or food-grade plastic containers. This prevents moisture from re-entering the mushrooms, which can lead to mold growth and degradation.

Cool, Dark Place

Store the containers in a cool, dark place such as a cupboard, pantry, or refrigerator. Avoid exposure to light, heat, and humidity, as these can degrade the potency of the mushrooms over time.

Desiccants

Adding a food-safe desiccant packet to the storage container can help absorb any residual moisture and further protect the mushrooms from humidity.

Freezing

For long-term storage, you can freeze dried mushrooms. Place them in an airtight container or vacuum-sealed bag before freezing. This method can help preserve their potency for an extended period.

Short Term (6 months to 1 year): When stored properly in airtight containers at room temperature, dried mushrooms can remain potent and safe to consume for up to a year.

Long Term (1 to 2+ years): For optimal long-term storage, freezing dried mushrooms can keep them potent for up to 2 years or more. However, slight potency loss may still occur over time.

How to grow our Treasure Coast

Step 1

Remove the lid from the grow kit and fill the container completely with water. When it’s full, place the lid back on the kit.

Step 2

Let the grow kit soak for 9–12 hours in a cool place such as the fridge. After soaking, drain all excess water, remove the lid, rinse it, and keep it for later use.

Step 3

Pour 150 ml of water into the grow bag. This creates the humidity needed for the mushrooms to form their first pins.

Step 4

Place the grow kit inside the grow bag with the water at the bottom. Make sure the kit stands upright and is not submerged in the water.

Tip: During setup, lightly spray the inside of the bag once to increase humidity. The ideal relative humidity for healthy growth is 85–100%.

Step 5

Fold the top of the grow bag twice (about 3 cm each fold) and secure it with paperclips. Position the bag in a warm, bright area with indirect sunlight at 23–27°C.

Step 6

Once small pins appear, open the bag 1–3 times daily to refresh the air. This removes built-up CO₂ and gives your mushrooms the oxygen they need to grow properly.

Step 7

Your mushrooms will be ready in 2–4 weeks. Harvest all of them, including the smallest ones, just before the veils under the caps begin to tear.

Step 8

After harvesting, prepare the kit for the next flush. This grow kit can produce up to three flushes. Simply soak the kit again and repeat the 8 steps.
