Zamaldelica Cannabis Seeds by ACE Seeds

Zamaldelica is a 100% sativa cannabis strain bred by ACE Seeds from an exotic Zamal mother (La Reunion Island) crossed with a Malawi Killer father. The result is a vigorous, resin-heavy plant that delivers a complex flavour profile of mango, sweet carrot, apple, flowers and lemon — and a clear-headed, sociable effect that pure sativa lovers chase.

This guide is written for adults aged 18 and over.

Why Zamaldelica Sativa Seeds Stand Out

Pure sativa genetics from African landrace stock are hard to come by in feminised form. Most seed banks lean heavy on indica-dominant hybrids because they're faster, shorter and easier to manage indoors. Zamaldelica goes the other direction entirely — this is unapologetically long-flowering, tall-growing African sativa genetics refined into something you can actually cultivate without a greenhouse the size of a barn.

ACE Seeds selected a Zamal mother from La Reunion Island — a volcanic French territory east of Madagascar where cannabis has been cultivated for generations. That Zamal was pollinated with their Malawi Killer, itself a powerhouse African sativa known for resin production that rivals many indica strains. The offspring inherited the best of both parents: the Zamal's complex terpene profile and the Malawi Killer's heavy trichome coverage.

The honest limitation? Patience. You're looking at 11-14 weeks of flowering indoors. That's nearly double what most indica-dominant strains ask for. If you're used to chopping at week 8, Zamaldelica will test your nerve. But the growers who wait — and we've spoken to plenty over the years — say the end product is worth every extra day. The smoke has a layered sweetness: mango up front, then a distinctive sweet carrot note that's almost unique to Zamal genetics, finishing on apple and lemon. You don't get that from a 9-week hybrid.

Zamaldelica Flavour and Terpene Profile

The flavour is where Zamaldelica genuinely separates itself from the pack. Most sativas give you citrus or haze — Zamaldelica gives you a tropical fruit salad with a savoury twist. The dominant note is ripe mango, sweet and full. Then comes the sweet carrot — and yes, it really does taste like carrot. It's an unusual terpene expression that traces directly back to the Zamal parent. Apple and lemon round out the inhale, while a floral undertone sits underneath everything.

If you've grown or smoked Malawi Gold or any Reunion Island sativa before, you'll recognise parts of this profile. But the combination is something ACE Seeds has made distinctly their own. Compared to their Golden Tiger (another African sativa cross), Zamaldelica leans sweeter and more fruit-forward where Golden Tiger tends more towards spice and incense.

How to Grow Zamaldelica Seeds

Zamaldelica responds brilliantly to training techniques, which is good news because untrained pure sativas indoors can turn into an unmanageable jungle. Here's how we'd approach it:

  1. Germinate your feminised seeds using your preferred method — paper towel, jiffy pellets or direct into a light seedling mix. Zamaldelica seeds tend to be vigorous germinators given their landrace heritage.
  2. Veg for 2-4 weeks only. Because the flowering stretch on a 100% sativa is significant, you want to flip to 12/12 earlier than you would with an indica. A plant that's 30cm at flip can easily reach 100-120cm by harvest.
  3. Apply LST (low stress training) early in veg. Bend the main stem horizontally and secure it. Zamaldelica responds very well to LST — the side branches will quickly grow upward and create an even canopy.
  4. For SOG setups, run more plants per square metre with a shorter veg period. For ScrOG, install your net at roughly 40cm above the pot and tuck branches through the screen during the first 2-3 weeks of flower.
  5. Maintain 12/12 lighting through the full 11-14 week flowering period. Don't rush harvest — the trichomes on Zamaldelica tend to mature later than you'd expect. Wait for mostly cloudy trichomes with just a few amber ones for that clear, cerebral sativa effect.
  6. Watch for the stretch during weeks 1-3 of flower. Zamaldelica can double or triple in height. If vertical space is limited, supercrop the tallest branches by gently pinching and bending them over.
  7. Outdoors, plant in a sunny, sheltered spot. The plants develop a bushy structure with strong ramification (side branching). Harvest falls in late October to early November in the Northern Hemisphere — the good resistance to mildew and botrytis helps during those damp autumn weeks.

Indoor vs Outdoor Zamaldelica Cultivation

Factor Indoor Outdoor
Flowering Period 11-14 weeks from flip Harvest late Oct / early Nov
Plant Structure Tall, needs training Bushy with strong ramification
Best Training Method ScrOG or LST Optional topping / LST
Mould Risk Low (controlled environment) Low (good natural resistance)
Yield Potential High with proper training High in warm climates
Climate Requirement Standard indoor setup Mediterranean or warm temperate

Indoor growers get the most control, but you need ceiling height or aggressive training. Outdoor growers in southern Europe, South Africa, or similar latitudes will see Zamaldelica thrive — the African genetics are right at home in warm, sunny conditions. Northern European outdoor growers: it's doable, but you're gambling on weather in late October. The botrytis resistance helps, but a wet November can still cause problems.

Complete your sativa grow setup with a ScrOG net — Zamaldelica's vigorous side branching makes it a natural fit for screen of green training. A carbon filter is also worth considering given the strong mango and floral terpenes this strain produces during late flower. For growers who enjoy ACE Seeds' African genetics, their Malawi and Golden Tiger feminised seeds make excellent companion grows.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Zamaldelica suitable for beginner growers?

It's not the easiest first grow. The 11-14 week flowering time and vigorous stretch demand patience and some training technique (LST or ScrOG). If you've done one or two grows already and want to step up to pure sativa genetics, Zamaldelica is a solid choice. Complete beginners might find a shorter-flowering hybrid more forgiving.

How tall does Zamaldelica grow indoors?

Without training, expect 100-150cm or more from a plant flipped at 30cm. The stretch during the first 3 weeks of flowering is significant — typical of 100% sativa genetics. Use LST, ScrOG or supercropping to manage height in tents under 180cm.

What does Zamaldelica taste like?

The flavour is a distinctive mix of mango, sweet carrot, apple, flowers and lemon. The sweet carrot note comes from the Zamal parent and is quite unusual — you won't find it in many other strains. It's a complex, layered smoke that improves with a proper cure of at least 2-3 weeks.

Can I grow Zamaldelica outdoors in northern Europe?

You can, but timing is tight. Harvest falls in late October to early November, which means you're racing against autumn weather. Zamaldelica has good resistance to mildew and botrytis, which helps. Southern Spain, Portugal, southern France or Italy are more reliable outdoor locations for this strain.

How does Zamaldelica compare to Golden Tiger by ACE Seeds?

Both are African sativa crosses from ACE Seeds. Zamaldelica leans sweeter with its mango and carrot profile, while Golden Tiger tends toward spice and incense. Flowering times are similar (both long). Zamaldelica generally shows slightly better indoor manageability thanks to the Zamal parent's bushy growth influence.

What training methods work best for Zamaldelica?

ScrOG and LST are the top picks. Zamaldelica responds very well to low stress training — the branches are flexible and the plant develops strong side growth naturally. SOG setups also work well if you run more plants with a shorter veg period. Topping is fine too, but LST alone usually gives enough canopy control.

Why does Zamaldelica take so long to flower?

It's 100% sativa genetics from equatorial African landraces. Near the equator, day length barely changes year-round, so these plants evolved to flower slowly over many months. The 11-14 week indoor flowering time is actually fast for pure sativa — some unrefined landrace sativas can take 16-20 weeks.

How many seeds come in a pack of Zamaldelica?

Each pack contains 3 feminised seeds. All seeds are produced by ACE Seeds, a Spanish seed bank specialising in landrace and heirloom cannabis genetics.
