Sugar Black Rose Feminized Seeds

Sugar Black Rose is a feminized Indica-dominant cannabis seed (80% Indica / 20% Sativa) bred by Delicious Seeds from a cross of Critical Mass and Black Domina. Three seeds per pack, 50 to 55 days from flip to harvest, and a realistic indoor yield of 350 to 450 grams per square metre. The genetics have been around long enough to prove themselves — we've stocked Delicious Seeds since the early days, and Sugar Black Rose remains one of their most consistent performers.

Sugar Black Rose Genetics: Critical Mass Meets Black Domina

The parent lines do most of the talking here. Critical Mass is one of the heaviest-yielding Indica-leaning strains ever developed — big, dense colas that pack on weight fast. Black Domina brings the dark foliage, heavy resin production, and a musky, almost earthy undertone that sits underneath the sweeter top notes. Cross them and you get Sugar Black Rose: a compact, bushy plant with broad dark-green leaves, short internodal spacing, and serious trichome coverage once flowering gets going.

At 80/20 Indica to Sativa, stretch is minimal. You're looking at a plant that rarely exceeds medium height even outdoors, which makes it a solid pick for tents, small rooms, or any space where a leggy Sativa would cause headaches. The phenotype consistency is genuinely good — seed to seed, you get predictable height and structure, which matters when you're planning a canopy and need uniform growth across multiple plants.

What Does Sugar Black Rose Smell and Taste Like?

Crack open a cured bud and the first thing you notice is sweetness — a sugary, almost floral note that sits right at the front. Underneath that, there's the Black Domina influence: a dark, musky earthiness with a hint of spice. When dried and handled, the trichome coverage is visible to the naked eye — the buds look frosted, almost sugared, which is where the name comes from. The aroma intensifies during the final weeks of flowering, so if you're growing indoors, a decent carbon filter is not optional.

The flavour profile leans sweet and fruity on the inhale, with that earthy, slightly spicy character coming through on the exhale. It's not a one-note strain — there's enough complexity to keep things interesting without being overwhelming.

Growing Sugar Black Rose Feminized Seeds Indoors

Sugar Black Rose feminized seeds are genuinely straightforward to grow. The plant stays compact, responds well to topping and LST, and finishes flowering in 50 to 55 days — that's fast for an Indica that yields this well. Expect 350 to 450 grams per square metre indoors under standard lighting conditions.

Mould resistance is a real strength here. The Critical Mass parent is famously susceptible to bud rot because of its dense cola structure, but the Black Domina genetics tighten things up and add genuine resistance. That said — and this is the honest limitation — those dense buds still benefit from good airflow. Don't skip the oscillating fan, and keep your humidity below 50% in late flower. We've seen growers lose weight to botrytis even on resistant strains when they get lazy with ventilation.

Feeding is uncomplicated. Sugar Black Rose doesn't need heavy nutrients — a standard Indica feeding schedule works well. She's not particularly sensitive to overfeeding, but she doesn't need to be pushed hard either. Medium EC values throughout flowering will keep her happy.

Sugar Black Rose Outdoor Growing

Outdoors, Sugar Black Rose stays manageable in height and finishes early — typically ready by late September in southern European climates. The compact structure and mould resistance make it a good option for growers in regions where autumn humidity can be a problem. Some growers report outdoor yields of 800 to 1,000 grams per plant under optimal conditions, though that depends heavily on your growing season length, light hours, and soil quality.

The short flowering period is the real advantage here. If you're in a climate where October rain is a risk, a 50 to 55 day finisher means you're harvesting before the worst of the weather hits. Compare that to a 70-day Sativa-dominant strain and the difference in peace of mind is significant.

Sugar Black Rose vs Other Indica Feminized Seeds

If you're weighing up Sugar Black Rose against other Indica-dominant feminized seeds in our catalogue, here's how it stacks up.

Strain Flowering Time Indoor Yield THC Key Trait
Sugar Black Rose (Delicious Seeds) 50–55 days 350–450 g/m² 18%+ Fast finish, mould resistant
Critical Mass (various breeders) 55–65 days 500–600 g/m² 19–22% Higher yield, more bud rot risk
Northern Lights (various breeders) 55–65 days 400–500 g/m² 16–18% Classic Indica, very stable

Sugar Black Rose sits in a sweet spot: faster than most heavy Indicas, better mould resistance than its Critical Mass parent, and enough THC to satisfy without being overwhelming. If raw yield is your priority and you've got good climate control, straight Critical Mass will outproduce it. But if you want a reliable, quick turnaround with less worry about losing buds to rot, Sugar Black Rose is the smarter pick. We'd take it over Critical Mass in any tent without a dehumidifier.

How to Grow Sugar Black Rose Feminized Seeds

  1. Germinate your Sugar Black Rose feminized seeds using the paper towel method or directly in a starter plug. Keep temperatures between 22–26°C and maintain moisture without waterlogging. Taproots typically emerge within 24 to 72 hours.
  2. Transplant seedlings into their final containers once the first true leaves appear. A 7 to 11 litre pot works well for indoor grows — Sugar Black Rose stays compact enough that she doesn't need massive root space.
  3. Veg for 3 to 5 weeks under 18/6 lighting. The plant responds well to topping after the 4th or 5th node. Low-stress training (LST) opens up the canopy and encourages more even bud development across the plant.
  4. Flip to 12/12 when the canopy fills roughly 60–70% of your available space. Stretch is minimal — expect 20–30% height increase during the first two weeks of flower.
  5. During flowering, keep relative humidity below 50% (ideally 40–45% in the final two weeks). Run an oscillating fan to keep air moving through those dense colas. Standard Indica bloom nutrients at medium EC — she's not a heavy feeder.
  6. Harvest at 50 to 55 days of flowering. Check trichomes with a jeweller's loupe — aim for mostly cloudy with 10–20% amber for peak potency and a heavier body effect.
  7. Dry in a dark room at 18–21°C and 55–60% humidity for 7 to 14 days, then cure in glass jars for a minimum of two weeks. The sweet, musky aroma develops significantly during the cure.

Growing Sugar Black Rose indoors? Pair these seeds with a complete grow tent kit for a self-contained setup — tent, lighting, ventilation, and carbon filter in one package. If you're already set up, a jeweller's loupe is worth grabbing for trichome checks during those final days of flowering.
