Pineapple Chunk Feminised Cannabis Seeds by Barney's Farm

Pineapple Chunk is a feminised indica-dominant cannabis seed strain from Barney's Farm that delivers 25% THC and a pineapple-cheese flavour profile most growers never forget. A three-way cross of Pineapple, Cheese, and Skunk #1, this strain won Best Indica at the 2009 High Times Cannabis Cup — and it's been a staple in seed collections ever since. Available in packs of 3 or 5 seeds, it's one of the easiest high-THC strains to grow, staying compact at 90–100cm and finishing flower in 8–9 weeks.

Which pack size?

PackSeedsBest for
3-pack (CSBF0087)3 feminised seedsFirst-time growers testing the strain, or anyone with limited grow space
5-pack (CSBF0012)5 feminised seedsGrowers who want a full canopy or a backup seed or two for the next run

Every seed is feminised, so no males to cull. If you're running a single tent, the 3-pack gives you a comfortable grow without overcrowding. For a SOG setup or anyone planning successive harvests, the 5-pack is the smarter buy.

Running Pineapple Chunk indoors? Pair it with a complete grow tent kit — tent, light, ventilation, and carbon filter in one box. A carbon filter is non-negotiable with this strain; the cheese-pineapple terps are loud. If you're starting from scratch, grab a propagation kit to give your seeds the best possible germination rate before transplanting.

Why Pineapple Chunk Deserves a Spot in Your Grow

We've sold Barney's Farm seeds since the early days of the shop, and Pineapple Chunk is one of those strains that keeps coming back into people's carts year after year. The reason is simple: 25% THC in a plant that practically grows itself. That's not marketing fluff — a quarter of the dried flower's mass is pure THC. For context, most "strong" strains sit around 18–20%. Pineapple Chunk overshoots that by a comfortable margin.

The flavour is where it gets interesting. The Pineapple parent brings a sweet, tropical fruit note. The Cheese parent layers in that unmistakable funky, sharp tang. And Skunk #1 ties the whole thing together with an earthy backbone. The result is a smoke that smells like someone left a pineapple in a cheese shop — bizarre on paper, genuinely captivating in practice. You can taste the sweetness on the inhale and the cheese funk lingers on the exhale. It's not subtle.

The honest limitation? This is a heavy indica. The effect is a full-body stone that pins you to the sofa. If you're after something you can smoke and then go for a bike ride, this isn't it. Compared to something like Barney's Farm Amnesia Haze — which leans sativa and keeps you functional — Pineapple Chunk is the opposite end of the spectrum. It's the strain you reach for at the end of the day when you've got nowhere to be. That said, if a couch-lock indica is what you're after, this is one of the best in the Barney's Farm catalogue.

Growing Pineapple Chunk Cannabis Seeds

Pineapple Chunk stays short — 90 to 100cm at maturity — which makes it a natural fit for indoor tents, balcony grows, and anywhere vertical space is limited. It develops a single dominant main cola rather than branching out wide, so you can pack plants closer together in a SOG configuration without them competing for light.

  1. Germinate your feminised seeds using the paper towel method or directly in a propagation plug. Keep the temperature between 22–25°C and the humidity around 70%. Taproots typically emerge within 24–72 hours.
  2. Transplant seedlings into their final pots once the first true leaves appear. A 7–11 litre pot works well for this strain's compact growth habit. Use a well-draining soil mix — Pineapple Chunk's disease resistance is strong, but waterlogged roots will still cause problems.
  3. Maintain 18 hours of light during the vegetative stage. Because the plant stays naturally short, you can flip to 12/12 after just 3–4 weeks of veg without losing yield. LST (low-stress training) can help expose lower bud sites to light, but it's not strictly necessary — the single-cola structure does most of the work for you.
  4. Switch to a 12/12 light cycle to trigger flowering. Expect 8–9 weeks from flip to harvest. The buds will fatten significantly in weeks 6–8, and the trichome production is heavy. Use a jeweller's loupe to check trichome colour — harvest when most are milky with a few amber for maximum potency.
  5. Flush your medium with plain water for the final 7–10 days before harvest. This improves the taste of the final product and lets those pineapple-cheese terps shine through cleanly.
  6. Dry in a dark, ventilated space at 18–21°C and 50–60% humidity for 7–14 days. Cure in glass jars for at least 2 weeks — though 4 weeks of curing brings out the full flavour complexity.

One thing we've heard from growers over the years: Pineapple Chunk's fungi and disease resistance is genuinely impressive. It handles humidity fluctuations better than most indica strains, which makes it forgiving if your ventilation setup isn't dialled in perfectly. First-time growers who've struggled with mould on other strains often have a much easier time with this one.
