Spliff's Strawberry Feminized Seeds — Sativa Yields Without the Sativa Stretch

Spliff's Strawberry is a feminized 80% Sativa from Spliff Seeds that produces up to 500g/m² indoors while staying between 100 and 120cm tall — a combination you almost never see in Sativa-dominant genetics. Five feminized seeds per pack, 8–9 weeks of flowering, and a fruit-forward flavour profile that ranges from sweet berry to grapefruit-pineapple depending on phenotype. She's the kind of strain we'd recommend to growers who love Sativa effects but don't have the ceiling height (or patience) for a 14-week monster.

Why Spliff's Strawberry Feminized Seeds Stand Out

Most 80% Sativa strains stretch past 150cm without blinking, demand 10–12 weeks of flowering, and test your patience along with your tent's vertical clearance. Spliff's Strawberry breaks that pattern. She finishes at 100–120cm — that's compact enough for a standard 1.6m or 1.8m tent with room to spare for your light and filter. The 8–9 week flowering period is closer to what you'd expect from an Indica-dominant hybrid, not a strain that's four-fifths Sativa.

The yield numbers are genuinely impressive. Indoors, expect around 500g/m² with proper lighting and nutrition. In subtropical outdoor climates, growers have reported harvests up to 1kg per plant — and that's not marketing fluff, it's what Spliff Seeds have documented. The buds come out dense and heavily coated in resin, which is what you want if you're after THC-rich flower with bag appeal.

Growth structure is strong and branchy with surprisingly uniform phenotype expression. You won't get one plant at 80cm and another racing past 140cm. That consistency matters when you're planning a canopy — it means even light distribution without having to top or train one outlier into submission.

Flavour Profile — Spliff's Strawberry Phenotypes

The flavour is where this strain gets genuinely interesting, and it's also where you'll see the most variation between seeds. Spliff's Strawberry produces three distinct phenotype expressions in terms of taste and aroma:

Phenotype Dominant Flavour Aroma Notes
Berry-dominant Sweet berry, mixed fruit Ripe berries, candy-like sweetness
Citrus-tropical Grapefruit-pineapple Sharp citrus, tropical fruit
Strawberry Fresh strawberry Sweet, unmistakable strawberry

During flowering, the scent stays pleasantly floral rather than overpowering. This isn't one of those strains that announces itself through two closed doors and a hallway. If you're growing in a spare room or running a discrete indoor setup, that restrained aroma during the grow cycle is a genuine advantage. The full flavour show arrives after harvest and a proper cure — and whichever phenotype you land on, the smoke is smooth with a fruit-forward character that most people genuinely enjoy.

According to research published in Cannabinoids and Terpenes: How Production of Photosynthetic Metabolites Is Affected, increased solar UV radiation can result in higher terpene content in cannabis varieties (PMC8200639). If you're growing Spliff's Strawberry outdoors in a sun-drenched climate, you may well get an even more pronounced flavour and aroma profile than indoor growers typically see.

Running Spliff's Strawberry indoors? Pair her with a complete grow tent kit — she fits comfortably in an 80x80cm or 100x100cm setup. A carbon filter is worth having even though the flowering aroma is mild; it's cheap insurance for a discrete grow. If you're starting from seed, a propagation kit with a heated mat and humidity dome gives feminized seeds the best possible start.

How to Grow Spliff's Strawberry Feminized Seeds

Spliff's Strawberry doesn't demand expert-level skills, but a few specifics will help you get closer to that 500g/m² target rather than settling for less. Here's the practical rundown:

  1. Germination — Soak seeds in a glass of room-temperature water for 12–24 hours until they sink, then transfer to damp paper towels in a warm spot (22–25°C). Taproots typically emerge within 48–72 hours. Handle seeds with clean hands or tweezers — contamination at this stage is the most common beginner mistake we see.
  2. Seedling stage — Plant germinated seeds taproot-down in small pots with light, airy soil or coco coir. Keep humidity around 65–70% and lighting gentle (18/6 cycle). Don't overwater — the number one seedling killer.
  3. Vegetative growth — Spliff's Strawberry grows strong and branchy naturally, so aggressive training isn't necessary. If you want to maximise canopy coverage, a light LST (low-stress training) in the first 2–3 weeks of veg works well. She responds to SOG and SCROG setups without complaint.
  4. Flip to flowering — Switch to 12/12 lighting when plants reach 50–60cm. She'll stretch moderately during the first two weeks of flower but typically stops well under 120cm. The uniform growth habit means your canopy should stay fairly level across multiple plants.
  5. Flowering (weeks 1–9) — Feed with a bloom-specific nutrient schedule. Watch for the resin production to ramp up from week 4 onwards — the buds get properly frosty. The mild floral aroma during this period means your carbon filter won't be working overtime.
  6. Harvest and cure — Check trichomes with a jeweller's loupe. Harvest when most trichomes are milky with a few turning amber. Dry slowly in a dark room at 18–20°C with 55–60% humidity for 7–10 days, then jar-cure for at least two weeks. The fruit flavours really develop during the cure — rushing this step means missing the best part of the strain.

The Honest Limitation

Here's the one thing to know before you buy: the phenotype variation in flavour means you won't know exactly which taste profile you're getting until after the cure. If you're specifically chasing the strawberry phenotype, you might get grapefruit-pineapple instead. All three are excellent — but if your heart is set on one specific flavour, growing all five seeds gives you the best odds of finding it. That's not a flaw, it's just the nature of working with seeds rather than clones. We'd rather tell you upfront than have you surprised at harvest.

The other thing worth mentioning: 500g/m² is achievable, but it's not automatic. That number assumes decent lighting (400W HPS minimum or equivalent LED), proper nutrition, and a grower who doesn't drown the roots. First-time growers will still get a solid harvest — just temper expectations slightly on your maiden run.
