Moby Dick Cannabis Seeds by Barney's Farm

Moby Dick seeds produce a sativa-dominant feminized cannabis strain from Barney's Farm that delivers colossal yields and THC levels to match. A cross between White Widow and Haze, she combines two legendary genetic lines into a single plant that grows tall, produces heavy, and finishes in 63–70 days indoors. If you want to buy seeds that earn their keep in the grow room, this is where you start.

Pack Sizes

Moby Dick seeds come in two pack sizes: 3 seeds or 5 seeds. Both are feminized, so every seed should produce a flowering female. If you're running a single tent, 3 seeds is plenty. Go for 5 if you want to select the best phenotype or you're filling a larger space — with yields this generous, even 3 plants can overwhelm a small grow room.

Why Moby Dick Seeds Deserve the Space

Moby Dick is one of the highest-yielding feminized strains in the Barney's Farm catalogue, capable of producing up to 700g/m² indoors under optimised conditions. We've carried Barney's Farm genetics for years, and Moby Dick consistently ranks among the strains customers come back to order again. The reason is simple: she produces. Outdoor growers in warm, bright climates have reported harvests of 1.5–2kg per plant come October. Those aren't marketing numbers — that's what this cross between White Widow and Haze was bred to do.

The White Widow parent brings resin production and structural resilience. The Haze side contributes height, vigour, and that unmistakable sativa character in the finished flower. The result is a plant that stretches tall — be ready for that — but rewards the vertical real estate with dense, trichome-coated colas that smell like citrus peel rolled in pine needles with a vanilla undertone. Crack open a cured bud and you'll notice the citrus hits first, followed by something resinous and sweet. It carries through to the taste whether you smoke or vaporise.

The honest limitation? She grows tall. Really tall. Indoors, you'll want ceiling height to spare or a willingness to train her down. Without some form of height management, Moby Dick will happily outgrow a standard 1.2m tent. That's not a flaw — it's the Haze genetics doing their thing — but it does mean this strain asks a bit more of you than a compact indica.

Growing Moby Dick Seeds: What to Expect

Moby Dick seeds are suited to intermediate and experienced growers, with a flowering period of 63–70 days indoors. She's not difficult in the way that landrace sativas can be difficult, but she does need attention. The main challenge is managing her height indoors. LST (low-stress training) and lollipopping are your best tools here — bending branches early in veg keeps the canopy even, and removing lower growth concentrates energy into the top colas where it counts.

During the flowering window, she'll pack on weight rapidly in the final two weeks, so make sure your branch braces are in place before the colas start drooping. Outdoors, she's ready for harvest around October in the Northern Hemisphere and thrives in hot, sunny climates. If you're growing in a Mediterranean or similarly warm environment, the outdoor yields of 1.5–2kg per plant become very achievable. According to the EMCDDA's European Drug Report, cannabis cultivation for personal use continues to grow across Europe, and high-yield strains like Moby Dick remain popular among home growers in permitted regions.

  1. Germinate your feminized Moby Dick seeds using the paper towel method or directly in a starter plug. Expect taproots within 24–72 hours.
  2. Transplant seedlings into their final containers once they've developed 2–3 sets of true leaves. Use at least 15–20 litre pots for indoor grows to give the root system room.
  3. Begin LST early in the vegetative phase — gently bend the main stem to encourage lateral branching and keep the canopy flat. This is critical for indoor height management.
  4. Switch to a 12/12 light cycle to trigger flowering. Expect significant stretch in the first 2–3 weeks of flower — she can double in height during this period.
  5. Lollipop the lower third of the plant around week 2–3 of flowering. Remove small, shaded branches and leaves that won't receive direct light.
  6. Brace heavy branches with stakes or trellis netting from week 5 onwards. The colas get dense and the branches will bend under their own weight.
  7. Harvest after 63–70 days of flowering when trichomes show mostly milky with some amber. Dry in a dark, ventilated space at 18–21°C for 7–10 days, then cure in sealed jars for at least 2 weeks.

Running Moby Dick in a tent? A carbon filter is non-negotiable once she hits mid-flower — the citrus and pine terpenes are pungent. Pair your seeds with a complete grow tent kit if you're setting up from scratch, and grab some plant ties or a trellis net for LST. You'll use them.

Moby Dick vs Other Barney's Farm Strains

Moby Dick outperforms most Barney's Farm strains on raw yield, producing up to 700g/m² indoors compared to 650g/m² for Critical Kush and 600g/m² for Amnesia Lemon. Here's how she stacks up against two popular alternatives.

StrainGeneticsFloweringIndoor yieldCharacter
Moby DickWhite Widow x Haze63–70 daysUp to 700g/m²Tall sativa-dominant, citrus/pine/vanilla
Critical KushCritical Mass x OG Kush50–60 daysUp to 650g/m²Compact indica, earthy and spicy
Amnesia LemonAmnesia x Lemon Skunk60–65 daysUp to 600g/m²Sativa-leaning, sharp citrus

Moby Dick wins on raw yield and reported THC potential, but she demands more vertical space and a longer flowering window. If you're short on headroom, Critical Kush is the safer bet. If you want sativa character in a slightly more manageable package, Amnesia Lemon is worth a look. But for sheer output? Moby Dick is the one we'd pick. You can also get both Critical Kush seeds and Amnesia Lemon seeds from the Barney's Farm range in our cannabis seeds category.
