Gnomo Auto Cannabis Seeds by Kannabia

Gnomo Auto is an autoflowering feminised cannabis seed from Kannabia that delivers a full harvest in roughly 8 weeks from germination. Built on the genetics of the celebrated Mataró Blue crossed with ruderalis, this compact strain stays under 1 metre tall and produces dense, resinous buds with a distinctive blue-ish tint. If you grow indoors in northern Europe and want reliable results without fiddling with light schedules, this is one of the strongest options in the Kannabia catalogue.

Autoflowering Feminised Seed to Harvest: ~8 Weeks Height: Under 1m Mataró Blue Genetics 18+ only

This product comes in packs of 5 feminised autoflowering seeds. Every seed is female — no need to identify and remove males.

Why Gnomo Auto Seeds Deserve a Spot in Your Grow Room

We've sold a lot of autoflowering seeds over the years, and the ones that keep coming back are the strains that actually finish when the breeder says they will. Gnomo Auto is one of those. Kannabia crossed their Mataró Blue — a strain already popular for its generous yields and fruity terpene profile — with a ruderalis parent to lock in the autoflowering trait. The result is a plant that doesn't care about your light cycle. Set it at 18/6 or 20/4 indoors, and she'll start flowering on her own schedule regardless.

What makes this strain particularly suited to indoor growers in the Netherlands, the UK, Scandinavia, and northern Germany is the combination of compact size and speed. Under 1 metre in height means she fits comfortably in a 60x60 or 80x80 tent without training. The 8-week seed-to-harvest timeline means you can run multiple cycles per year in the same space. And because she's a stable cross, you won't see much phenotypic variation between plants — what you plant is what you get.

Outdoors, Gnomo Auto works too, but we'd be honest: she really shines indoors. In warmer southern European climates she'll do well on a balcony or terrace, but if you're relying on a British or Dutch summer, you're rolling the dice on weather. Indoors, you control everything, and that's where this strain's genetics pay off the most.

Gnomo Auto Flavour and Bud Characteristics

The buds on Gnomo Auto inherit the visual signature of Mataró Blue — large, dense nugs with a noticeable blue-purple hue across the calyxes. They're coated in a thick layer of trichomes that gives them a frosty, almost crystalline appearance under grow lights. When you break a bud open, you'll catch a sweet citrus aroma — think somewhere between tangerine peel and lemon zest, with a slightly earthy undertone.

The smoke carries that citrus flavour through. It's smooth, not harsh, with a sweetness on the exhale that lingers. The effect leans towards a strong cerebral response — Kannabia describes it as a "very strong mental high." The Mataró Blue parentage brings indica structure to the plant, but the experience itself has a noticeable sativa-leaning headspace. Medium internodal spacing and good lateral branching mean plenty of bud sites across the canopy, which translates to respectable yields for an autoflower of this size.

How to Grow Gnomo Auto Seeds

  1. Germinate your Gnomo Auto seeds using the paper towel method or directly in a small pot of moist, light soil mix. Taproots typically emerge within 24–72 hours.
  2. Transplant seedlings into their final container early — autoflowers don't like being repotted once they're established. An 11-litre or 15-litre fabric pot is a solid choice for indoor grows.
  3. Set your light schedule to 18 hours on, 6 hours off. Some growers run 20/4 for autoflowers. Either works — Gnomo Auto isn't fussy about this.
  4. Keep feeding light during the first 2–3 weeks. Autoflowers are sensitive to overfeeding, especially in the seedling stage. A mild vegetative nutrient at half strength is enough.
  5. Watch for the onset of flowering around week 3–4. You won't need to change your light schedule — she'll transition automatically. Switch to bloom nutrients when you see the first pistils forming.
  6. Gnomo Auto grows as a rounded bush with good lateral branching. Low-stress training (LST) can help open up the canopy and expose more bud sites to light, but heavy topping or high-stress techniques are risky with autoflowers this fast.
  7. Harvest around week 8 from seed. Check trichomes with a jeweller's loupe — you're looking for mostly milky trichomes with a few amber ones for a balanced effect.

Running Gnomo Auto in a tent? Pair these seeds with an 80x80 grow tent and a complete ventilation kit including a carbon filter — the citrus terpenes on this strain are pungent, and your neighbours will notice without proper extraction. A fabric pot set in 11L or 15L sizes gives the roots room without wasting soil.

Honest Limitations — What to Watch Out For

Gnomo Auto is a fast, forgiving strain, but she's not without her quirks. The 8-week timeline is tight, which means any stress early on — overwatering, nutrient burn, transplant shock — eats directly into your yield. There's no recovery window like you'd get with a 12-week photoperiod strain. Start in the final pot, feed gently, and don't get clever with heavy defoliation.

Compared to Kannabia's photoperiod Mataró Blue, Gnomo Auto will yield less. That's the trade-off with any autoflower — speed and simplicity in exchange for slightly smaller harvests. If you've got the space and patience for a full photoperiod cycle, Mataró Blue itself will outproduce the auto version. But if you want 3–4 harvests per year in the same tent, Gnomo Auto's speed makes up for the per-plant difference.

Also worth noting: she stays compact. Under 1 metre is great for stealth and small spaces, but if you're used to training large plants to fill a 120x120 canopy, you'll want to run 4–6 Gnomo Autos to fill the same footprint.
