Critical HOG Feminised Cannabis Seeds by T.H. Seeds

Critical HOG is a fast-finishing, indica-dominant feminised cannabis seed bred by T.H. Seeds — a cross of two award-winning parents, Tennessee HOG and Critical Mass. She flowers in just 55 days and delivers yields of 350–550g/m² in dense, resin-caked clusters that practically beg to be pressed into hash. If you want heavy indica genetics without a 10-week wait, this is the one.

Indica-dominant 55-day flowering 350–550g/m² yield 120–160cm height 18+ only

Why Critical HOG Seeds Deserve a Spot in Your Grow Room

T.H. Seeds built Critical HOG by crossing two strains that have both taken home trophies — Critical Mass, famous for its absurd bud weight, and Tennessee HOG, an American classic with a thick resin coat and that unmistakable pungent funk. The result is a plant that inherits the best from both sides: the swollen, dense colas of Critical Mass and the trichome coverage of Tennessee HOG.

What we'd highlight first is the speed. At 55 days of flowering, Critical HOG is genuinely fast for an indica that produces this much weight. Most strains in the same yield bracket need 8–9 weeks minimum. That shorter window isn't just convenient — it reduces your exposure to late-flower problems like bud rot and pest pressure. Less time in bloom means fewer things can go wrong.

The resin production is worth mentioning on its own. If you've ever wanted to try making your own hash or budder, Critical HOG is one of the best strains for it. The trichome density is visible to the naked eye from mid-flower onwards — sticky to the touch, frosty white coverage across the calyxes and sugar leaves. Even the trim is worth keeping.

Growing Critical HOG: What to Expect

Despite being predominantly indica, Critical HOG stretches more than you might expect — plants reach 120–160cm, so she's not a squat little bush. Factor that into your tent height calculations. In an 80x80 tent, you'll want to flip to 12/12 before she gets too tall, or use some low-stress training to keep the canopy even.

She's a hungry plant. T.H. Seeds specifically notes that Critical HOG is "a very good eater," so don't be shy with nutrients during flower. She can handle a heavier feeding schedule than most indicas without showing burn. That said, always watch the leaf tips — if they start curling or yellowing at the edges, back off 10–15%.

Here's the honest limitation: those massive, dense buds are a mould magnet. Indoors, you need proper airflow through the canopy — an oscillating fan pointed at the colas, plus good extraction. Outdoors, she's vulnerable to heavy autumn rain. If you're in a wet climate, consider covering her or bringing pots under shelter during the final two weeks. We've seen growers lose gorgeous harvests to botrytis in the last stretch because they skimped on ventilation. Don't be that grower.

Aroma, Flavour, and the Smoke

Crack open a cured jar of Critical HOG and you get a pungent, earthy funk with sweet undertones — that Tennessee HOG lineage coming through loud and clear. It's not a fruity, terpinolene-forward strain. This smells like old-school hash plant. The kind of jar you open once and your whole room knows about it.

The smoke itself is smooth — surprisingly so for how dense the buds are. There's a distinct hash-like flavour on the exhale, which makes sense given the resin content. If you've ever smoked proper Moroccan or Afghan hash, that's the ballpark. Rich, warm, slightly spicy. Not a cougher unless you're pulling massive bong rips.

The effect leans heavily into physical relaxation. This is a proper evening strain — couch, blanket, film, done. In larger amounts, she'll put you to sleep. Traditionally, indica-dominant strains like this have been used by growers and consumers looking for physical calm and appetite stimulation, and Critical HOG fits that mould precisely.

Critical HOG vs Other Fast Indica Seeds

If you're comparing Critical HOG to other quick-finishing indicas, here's how she stacks up against two popular alternatives we carry:

StrainFlowering timeYieldHeightKey trait
Critical HOG (T.H. Seeds)55 days350–550g/m²120–160cmExtreme resin, hash-like flavour
Northern Lights56–60 days400–500g/m²100–120cmCompact, low odour, classic indica
Critical (Royal Queen Seeds)49–56 days500–550g/m²80–140cmMaximum yield, Skunk influence

Critical HOG sits in a sweet spot — she yields like a Critical cross should, but the Tennessee HOG genetics add a resin layer and flavour profile that pure Critical strains don't have. If yield is your only metric, straight Critical edges ahead. If you want something with more character in the jar and exceptional hash-making potential, Critical HOG wins.

How to Grow Critical HOG Seeds

  1. Germinate your feminised seeds using the paper towel method or directly in a starter plug. Keep the temperature at 22–26°C and the medium moist but not soaked. Taproots should appear within 24–72 hours.
  2. Transplant seedlings into their final pots once they have 2–3 sets of true leaves. Critical HOG responds well to 11–15 litre pots indoors. She's a heavy feeder, so use a nutrient-rich growing medium or plan to supplement early.
  3. Veg for 3–4 weeks under 18/6 lighting. Given her 120–160cm final height, consider topping once above the 5th node and using low-stress training to spread the canopy. This also helps light reach the lower bud sites.
  4. Flip to 12/12 and watch her stretch. She'll roughly double in height during the first two weeks of flower. Increase phosphorus and potassium in your feed schedule from week 2 of bloom onwards.
  5. From week 5, monitor bud density closely. Ensure good airflow between colas — remove any large fan leaves that block air movement through the canopy. Relative humidity should stay below 50%, ideally around 40–45% in late flower.
  6. Harvest around day 55 of flowering. Check trichomes with a jeweller's loupe — you're looking for mostly cloudy with 10–20% amber for that full-body indica effect. Dry slowly in a dark room at 18–20°C and 55–60% humidity for 10–14 days, then cure in glass jars for at least 2 weeks.

Growing Critical HOG indoors? Pair her with a carbon filter and extraction fan — those pungent buds will announce themselves to anyone within range. A jeweller's loupe is also a smart pickup for nailing the harvest window on day 55. If you're planning to press hash from the trim, a set of bubble bags will put all that resin to good use.
